** Keep an eye on your {{ai|Rising Spell Force|Ezreal}} stacks and whether they increase. This aspect allows you to check brush with {{ci|Ezreal|Ezreal's}} other abilities as well.
 
* If attacking a tower with an ally, you can use {{ai|Essence Flux|Ezreal}} on them to boost their attack speed. Hitting the friendly champion will also increase the stacks and duration of your passive {{ai|Rising Spell Force|Ezreal}}.
 
* In the lane, {{ci|Ezreal|Ezreal's}} early burst damage and poke is very high. Combine this with a lane partner or jungler's crowd control to get some kills.
 
* Do not underestimate {{ai|Essence Flux|Ezreal|Essence Flux's}} damage, espeically with a bit of [[Ability Power]]. With some aim, AP {{ci|Ezreal}} can easily harass and burst enemies down safely behind minions.
 
*Remember that {{ai|Arcane Shift|Ezreal}} can be used to jump terrain spots and walls in the jungle. It is your best escape mechanism.
 
**Be careful using it offensively in a skirmish as people will know to focus you while it's on cooldown.
 
**Take note of the surrounding area. If {{ci|Ezreal}} is low on health and tries to {{ai|Arcane Shift|Ezreal}} over a wall, the escape attempt will be pointless if the homing missile targets a jungle monster and pulls aggro.

**Although {{ai|Trueshot Barrage|Ezreal}} is a channeled ability, you cannot stop the channel with hard CC. The only way to prevent Ezreal from ulting mid-cast is by killing him.
 
**Never forget that {{ai|Trueshot Barrage|Ezreal}} is global and you may be able to snipe a enemy champion from all the way across the map if you have good aim. You can also use it to soften up a enemy that you are aiming to fight.
 
**If you decide to snipe a fleeing enemy, make sure they don't have any sort of heal, shield or invulnerability.
 
**Use {{Ability_icon|Trueshot Barrage }}when the enemy has no vision of Ezreal, so they will be unable to warn their teammates.
 
***Also note that {{ai|Trueshot Barrage|Ezreal}} can be seen through the fog, so a wary opponent can watch for it and avoid it from a distance.

While a less to not-effective option for ability power, its strength for {{ai|Mystic Shot|Ezreal}} and improving auto-attacks with [[attack speed]], [[attack damage]] and [[armor reduction]] make it a good item against low - mid [[Armor|armor]] champions.
 
** {{ii|Last Whisper}} complements {{ci|Ezreal}} for {{ai|Mystic Shot}} and attack damage. While less-useful for regular auto-attack than {{ii|The Black Cleaver}}, the [[Armor Penetration|armor penetration]] is the strongest against mid-high armor stacking champions, it is an amazing item against tougher enemies. Its low cost makes it an affordable purchase in the early-phase. However, it's not exactly suitable for ability power and/or hybrid builds as {{ii|Youmuu's Ghostblade}} is.

**{{ai|Mystic Shot|Ezreal}} will proc the auto attack charges for {{ci|Ezreal}} and in doing so, proc {{ii|Ionic Spark}}'s passive, giving him even more AOE damage in team fights.

Tips

Playing As Ezreal Ezreal
  • Use Arcane Shift Arcane Shift to help line up your other skill shots.
  • You can play Ezreal either as Attack Damage carry or Ability Power carry depending on how you build him.
  • You can line up Trueshot Barrage Trueshot Barrage to hit multiple minion waves or even Monsters.
Playing Against Ezreal Ezreal
  • Ezreal is a very fragile champion so take the fight to him.
  • Ezreal is completely skill shot based, so make sure to keep minions in between you.
  • Mystic Shot Mystic Shot applies on-hit effects including the Crest of Cinders Crest of Cinders.

Tricks

Ability Usage
  • To farm or take objectives faster, use your Essence Flux Essence Flux and then Arcane Shift Arcane Shift right into it for an attack speed buff.
    • (Note: this no longer applies since the rework changed Essence Flux Essence Flux to instead detonate for extra damage if attacked again by Ezreal Ezreal) It will be extra beneficial to hit allies with Essence Flux Essence Flux as well in the process, as it will not only grant them bonus attack speed as well but also boost your own even more due to Rising Spell Force Rising Spell Force.
  • Use your Mystic Shot Mystic Shot to acquire hard to reach farm or to harass your lane opponent. Due to its versatility, it is usually taken first for both AP and AD Ezreal Ezreal and then maxed first for AD Ezreal Ezreal.
  • Hold on to your Arcane Shift Arcane Shift to dodge crucial enemy skillshots.
    • Although Arcane Shift Arcane Shift deals decent damage, it shouldn't be used to do so as it is Ezreal's Ezreal's only form of mobility. The projectile from the ability is also rather unreliable since it does not prioritise enemy champions.
  • Use Trueshot Barrage Trueshot Barrage to push waves in your favor. It can also be used similar to Ashe's Ashe's Hawkshot Hawkshot for scouting, especially when you have high CDR.
  • Do not forget to auto attack in between Mystic Shot's Mystic Shot's. This significantly increases your DPS, especially with a fully stacked Manamune Manamune (Muramana Muramana).
  • Landing Mystic Shot Mystic Shot is extremely crucial as it reduces all of Ezreal's Ezreal's cooldowns thus allowing him to kite with Arcane Shift Arcane Shift and clear waves faster or snipe targets with Trueshot Barrage Trueshot Barrage along with just generally increasing his DPS.
  • For AD Ezreal Ezreal, Essence Flux Essence Flux is rather weak since it does not scale with AD. However, it can still be used for an extra Sheen Sheen proc or simply to give your team, and by extension yourself, extra attack speed.
    • For AP Ezreal Ezreal, Essence Flux Essence Flux is your main source of damage due to its high AP scaling and added bonus passing through all units that it hits.
Rune Usage
  • Ezreal Ezreal utilizes Kleptomancy Kleptomancy better than any other champion in the game except for Gangplank Gangplank.
    • Mystic Shot Mystic Shot immediately procs Kleptomancy Kleptomancy because it applies on-hit.
      • Use your long range poke to poke out enemy champions, and gain free Kleptomancy Kleptomancy consumables.
        • Sell unwanted Kleptomancy Kleptomancy consumables in the shop for a bit of extra gold.
  • Take Future's Market Future's Market because Ezreal Ezreal is item-reliant. It allows you to get into debt (negative gold) to purchase items quicker than usual.
  • Cosmic Insight Cosmic Insight gives free CDR and increases the CDR cap to 45%. It also reduces summoner spell and item active cooldowns by 5%.
  • You can also swap out Cosmic Insight Cosmic Insight for Time Warp Tonic Time Warp Tonic.
    • Time Warp Tonic Time Warp Tonic increases the duration of your potions and Kleptomancy Kleptomancy consumables by 20% and grants 5% movement speed throughout the duration.
  • You almost always want to take Sorcery secondary because it offers two great runes that benefit Ezreal Ezreal well.
    • Manaflow Band Manaflow Band increases your permanent mana pool up to 250 mana.
      • The mana increase also synergizes with Manamune Manamune/Muramana Muramana passive as these two items grant bonus AD equal to 2% of your maximum mana pool.
    • Transcendence Transcendence gives free 10% CDR at level 10. You gain either 2 Ability Power or 1.2 bonus Attack Damage (Adaptive) for every 1% CDR in excess of the cap.
      • This rune works perfectly with the other CDR you get from items and/or runes.
    • If you feel like the game will go long, you can always consider Gathering Storm Gathering Storm as it gives extra AD or AP every 10 minutes throughout the entire game.
    • Another rune even though it's not great nowadays is Scorch Scorch. It gives added burn damage to your poke.
      • It is not that great because most players are taking defensive rune setups and defensive items, thus lowering Scorch Scorch damage output.
Item Usage
  • You always want to get Tear of the Goddess Tear of the Goddess as quick as possible and start stacking the item. The more you delay buying this item, the longer it takes for you to come online and start dealing damage.
  • Ezreal has one of the best two item powerspike in the entire game. That consists of building a Manamune Manamune transformed into a Muramana Muramana and Trinity Force Trinity Force.
    • These two items provide everything that Ezreal Ezreal needs.
      • Manamune Manamune/Muramana Muramana gives all the mana he needs to constantly output damage.
        • These two items grant bonus AD equal to 2% of his maximum mana pool.
      • All the Trinity Force Trinity Force components give a mix of great stats that benefit Ezreal Ezreal. Trinity Force Trinity Force will amplify the stats that the individual components provide.
        • Phage Phage gives AD and Health. The Rage passive from this item works with Mystic Shot Mystic Shot for bonus movement speed even though the bonuses are halved for ranged champions.
        • Sheen Sheen bonus damage works with your Mystic Shot Mystic Shot automatically. It also gives you extra valuable mana.
        • Stinger Stinger gives excellent attack speed which combined with Rising Spell Force Rising Spell Force + Arcane Shift Arcane Shift into the Essence Flux Essence Flux projectile gives you another source of DPS. Stinger Stinger also gives CDR.
  • Blade of the Ruined King Blade of the Ruined King is a good DPS item as it grants bonus attack damage, attack speed and bonus on-hit damage with a scale of enemy’s current health that helps Ezreal Ezreal take out units with high maximum health more quickly.
    • The item active helps Ezreal Ezreal to slow down enemies in order to land his skillshots more easily.
  • The Bloodthirster The Bloodthirster and Blade of the Ruined King Blade of the Ruined King provide with lifesteal that allows him to survives better and regains health after skirmishes and fights.
  • Essence Reaver Essence Reaver dramatically increases Ezreal's Ezreal's damage output with bonus attack damage and bonus mana that scales with Muramana's Muramana's on-hit damage.
  • Buying Archangel's Staff Archangel's Staff after completing three or four items and later upgrading it into Seraph's Embrace Seraph's Embrace is considered a good idea because it gives a huge amount of mana and ability power, which all of Ezreal's Ezreal's abilities scale with.
    • More importantly, since Awe from Muramana Muramana and Seraph's Embrace Seraph's Embrace does stack with each other, this is an unexpectedly good combo for a hybrid build.
