• Galio's dance references Beauty and the Beast by Walt Disney.
• His previous alias, "The Sentinel's Sorrow", was replaced by "The Colossus" after his Champion Update.
  • He references his previous alias while attacking Blue Sentinel: "You're a sentinel? I'm a sentinel! We should fight!"
• Galio is seemingly short for Galileo, after the Renaissance Pisan polymath.
  • The name means "man of Galilee", ultimately from Semitic root g-l "circle."

Enchanted Galio

• He might be referencing Chernabog from Fantasia by Walt Disney.

Hextech Galio

• He resembles The Iron Giant.
• He might be referencing 9 and/or Clank from Ratchet & Clank.
• In early concepts for his splashart, Camille's leg was present and he was holding Annie on his hands.
• He shares this theme with Hextech Anivia, Hextech Annie, Hextech Janna, Hextech Singed, and Hextech Sion.

Commando Galio

• He references the Imperial Guard (specifically the Ogryn) from Warhammer 40,000.
• His outfit resembles Chris Redfield's from Resident Evil.
• He shares this theme with Commando Garen, Commando Jarvan IV, Commando Lux and Commando Xin Zhao.

Gatekeeper Galio

• He resembles Illidan Stormrage from Warcraft, Hellboy from Dark Horse Comics, and a Bloodthirster from Warhammer 40,000.
• His bosses are Little Devil Teemo and Kindred.
• He is the third non-comical Legendary skin, behind Blood Lord Vladimir and Demonblade Tryndamere.
• His various interactions are references to the Nine Circles of Hell from Inferno.
• He shares this theme with Ravenborn LeBlanc, Little Devil Teemo, Underworld Twisted Fate (the runes on Galio's arms are the same as those on the back of his cards) and Underworld Wukong.

Debonair Galio

• He celebrates Valentine's Day 2015 together with other Gargoyles (likely also created by Durand)
  • He is drinking what appears to be a Mana Potion from a Health Potion flask and holding a Coin from Mario.
• He might be referencing Vito Corleone from The Godfather.
• Him and the background seem to have been influenced by Art Deco.
• He shares this theme with Debonair Ezreal, Debonair Jayce, and Debonair Vi.

Quotes

• "I came to chew bubblegun and kick butt, and I'm all out of butt." is a reference to the 1988 film They Live in which the main character, enters a bank with a pump-action shotgun and says "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum."
  • It is also a reference Duke Nukem with the quote "It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and i'm all out of gum."

Relations

• It is uncertain how long ago Durand created Galio.
  • Considering he and Poppy know each other, he is at most as old/older as/than the Kingdom of Demacia ever since its founding by Orlon himself.
    • And given he and Sion fought each other many times back when the Undead Juggernaut was alive, Galio (and by extension Durand) is at least a contemporary or Jarvan I's.
• Galio sees Lux as the only mage he likes, and has become a sort of Guardian to her.
