Prophet of an Elder God

Innate: Illaoi periodically spawns a Prophet of an Elder God Tentacle on nearby impassable terrain if none are nearby, which remains on the battlefield until killed or when disabled for 60 seconds.

Tentacles deal 10 - 180 (based on level) (+ 120% AD) physical damage when commanded to attack by her abilities. See Pet Details for more.

Ability Details
  • Prophet of an Elder God Tentacles do not spawn in the Nexus Obelisk's attack range.
  • Illaoi has infinite range from which she can spawn a Tentacle. However, if she’s in an area near a spawned Tentacle, she must leave it if she wants to spawn another one.
  • They take about 2 seconds to finish their spawn animation.
  • The Tentacle has a 1 second dormant immunity when it spawns, making it able to start an attack even if Illaoi or a Vessel are not nearby.
  • If Illaoi uses Harsh Lesson Harsh Lesson on a target during their spawn animation, the Tentacle won't attack but the SFX of the Tentacle attacking will be heard.
    • If this happens, after the Tentacle finishes its spawn animation, it will be unable to start an attack for 1 second.

Tentacle Smash

Passive: Prophet of an Elder God Tentacles deal increased damage.

Damage Increase:
10% / 15% / 20% / 25% / 30%

Active: Illaoi slams her idol into the ground, summoning a Prophet of an Elder God Tentacle that slams down in the target direction, dealing physical damage before disappearing.

Ability Details
  • Before upgrading the ability to rank 1 it will show a damage increase of 5%. Only when it's upgraded the increase becomes 10%.
  • The ability will not be stopped if Illaoi gets immobilized during its cast time, and the damage zone will remain the same.

Harsh Lesson
COST: 30 Mana
Harsh Lesson

Active: Illaoi's next basic attack within 6 seconds gains 225 bonus range and causes her to dash to her target if it's not inside her base attack range, dealing bonus physical damage, capped at 300 against non-champions, and commanding all tentacles in range to attack her target.

Bonus Physical Damage:
3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 5% (+ 2% per 100 AD) of target's maximum health

Harsh Lesson resets Illaoi's autoattack timer.

Ability Details
  • The attack will break spell shields but it will not prevent the damage or Tentacle Smash slam proc.
  • Each parry has got different interactions with this ability:
  • While Grounded icon grounded Illaoi will walk into melee range before using this ability.
  • She can still dash even if she's Root icon rooted.
  • It will not affect structures, but the enhanced attack will be consumed.
  • The attack will apply spell effects and the bonus damage will heal from spell vamp.

Test of Spirit

Test of Spirit

Active: Illaoi unleashes a tentacle in the target direction, stopping at the first enemy hit. If the enemy is a champion, it pulls its Spirit, placing it in front of Illaoi. The target is tethered to the Spirit, and True Sight icon revealed while it remains active.

Spirits have the target's current health and last for 10 seconds, reduced by 1 second each time the target damages Illaoi (by single target or area of effect). Illaoi and her allies can attack the Spirit to inflict a portion of the damage dealt to the tethered champion.

Damage Transmission:
25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45% (+ 8% per 100 AD)

The tether is severed if the Spirit is killed or when the target moves too far away, Slow icon slowing them by 80% for 1.5 seconds, marking them as a Vessel for 12 seconds, and Sight icon revealing the area around them for a few seconds.


Vessel: It spawns a Prophet of an Elder God Tentacle near it every 5 / 4 / 3 seconds but it's able to free itself if it Damage rating takedowns Illaoi. Each Prophet of an Elder God Tentacle will autonomously attack the closest Vessel / Spirit once every 10 seconds.

Ability Details
  • Spell shield will only prevent your Spirit from being grabbed. Spell shields will not prevent you from becoming a Vessel or prevent tentacles from attacking you, although they can be used to block a tentacle's attack.
  • Cooldown starts on cast.
  • The first cast of the ability won't be seen by enemies if Illaoi is in the fog of war.
  • Spirits are classified as Decoys, making them targetable as a champion.
    • The Spirit can only be targeted by Illaoi and her teammates--the Spirit's allies cannot target the it.
    • As such, Spirits can intercept effects such as Ace in the Hole Ace in the Hole and Infinite Duress Infinite Duress.
    • Leap of Faith Leap of Faith is specifically coded to interact with Spirits, but will not interact with other Decoys.
    • Some effects will apply as if the Spirit were a monster/minion, such as: Blade of the Ruined King item Blade of the Ruined King, The Black Cleaver item The Black Cleaver, Regurgitate Regurgitate.
    • Spirits cannot get healed or shielded by any means. The only way to shield them is by taking Summon Aery rune Aery and using a heal that auto targets champions like Heal Heal or Wish Wish.
  • Towers, minions, and neutral monsters can attack Spirits.
  • Killing a Spirit rewards you with Gold 25.
  • Redirected damage (damage dealt before damage modifiers but after applying the ability's modifier) cannot exceed the Spirit's current health. Following this the damage will be affected by modifiers and will be able to exceed the Spirit's current health.
    • True Damage is not affected by these modifiers but will be modified by Test of Spirit's modifier.
  • The amount of damage that will be redirected to the Vessel does not take into account the Spirit's resistances - the redirected damage is only reduced once, by the Vessel's resistances.
    • The damage shown being received by Spirit is not representative of the damage redirected to the Vessel, as the combat text shown adjacent to the Spirit factors the Spirit's resistances - which may be different from the Vessel's.
  • Damage transferred to the target will apply damage-type specific effects such as The Black Cleaver item The Black Cleaver, Morellonomicon item Morellonomicon, Executioner's Calling item Executioner's Calling, or the healing from Death's Dance item Death's Dance / Hextech Gunblade item Hextech Gunblade, determined by who dealt the damage.
    • It will not trigger on-hit effects or spell effects versus the target (Scorch rune Scorch, Wit's End item Wit's End) although the damage of those effects dealt to the Spirit will be transferred.
  • Electrocute rune Electrocute/Phase Rush rune Phase Rush/Spellthief's Edge item Tribute stacks interaction:
    • Tentacle Tentacle Smash Slams can only get a total of one stack.
    • A Harsh Lesson Harsh Lesson + Tentacle Smash Slam will only get one stack because the Slam is considered part of Harsh Lesson.
    • A Harsh Lesson Harsh Lesson + Tentacle Smash Slam + Tentacle Smash Slam from a different source will still only apply one stack. The second won't apply it because it notices the Slam has been used before.
  • The target will get slowed only after the tether returns back to it and not instantly.
  • If the target becomes a Vessel in a dormant Tentacle's attack range, that Tentacle won't attack him for the next 10 seconds.

Leap of Faith

Leap of Faith

Active: Illaoi leaps into the air before slamming her idol into the ground, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies. For each enemy champion and Test of Spirit Spirit hit, a Prophet of an Elder God Tentacle is summoned for 8 seconds (up to a maximum of 5 summons).

Physical Damage:
150 / 250 / 350 (+ 50% bonus AD)

For the duration, Harsh Lesson Harsh Lesson's cooldown is reduced to 2 seconds, all Prophet of an Elder God Tentacles awakened by Illaoi are Playful untargetable, will not go dormant, and they take half the amount of time to make an attack.

Ability Details
  • Illaoi is immune to being Airborne icon displaced while in her cast animation.
  • Spirits are counted as champions for the purposes of Leap of Faith, so it will summon another Tentacle for a Vessel hit.
  • Illaoi will face the closest enemy champion when she ults, and will spawn tentacles (850 range away from her, unless there's a wall blocking the way making the tentacle spawn on it) based on:
    • The direction she's facing.
    • How many champions she hits.
      • 1+ champions: one tentacle at 0 degrees.
      • 2+ champions: one tentacle at 72 degrees.
      • 3+ champions: one tentacle at 288 degrees.
      • 4+ champions: one tentacle at 144 degrees.
      • 5+ champions: one tentacle at 216 degrees.
  • The animation may get bugged if Illaoi moves immediately after using Leap of Faith.
  • Spell shield will block the ability's damage but will not prevent Prophet of an Elder God Tentacles from spawning.

Control type The Tentacle is commanded to attack each time a target in its range gets hit by Harsh Lesson Harsh Lesson.

The Tentacle is also able to automatically attack the closest target in its range every 10 seconds (counted after it finishes its first attack), which can be:

Its attacks get queued up if it receives more than one attack command. The queued attacks will always have 1 attack speed, even if affected by Leap of Faith Leap of Faith's buff.

Target type Ward (can be Teleport teleported to).
On-hit effects Hits through Counter Strike Counter Strike and Aegis Protection Aegis Protection.
Spell effects Applies spell effects as an area of effect ability.
  • Banshee's Veil item Spell shields will block the attack.
  • Tentacles that hit the same target within 0.5 seconds of each other deal 50% less damage than the previous tentacle, up to a cap of 75% less damage than the first.



The Tentacle damages all non-structure enemies it hits along its length, Redemption item healing Illaoi for 5% missing health if it hits at least one enemy champion. Healing stacks multiplicatively if more Tentacles attack at the same time, calculated by this formula: (maximum health − current health) × (1 − 0.95n), with 'n' the number of Tentacle hits.


The Tentacle alerts Illaoi whenever it takes damage.


The Tentacle becomes dormant if Illaoi and the Vessel Vessel are too far away, disabling its ability to subsequently attack, reducing itself to 1 health and disappearing after 60 seconds of dormancy. The Tentacle instantly reactivates if Illaoi or a Vessel Vessel moves back in range.


The Tentacle enrages for 8 seconds after Leap of Faith Leap of Faith has been cast, becoming untargetable, unable to go dormant and taking half the amount of time to make an attack.


The Tentacle grants Sight icon sight of nearby Control Ward item Control Wards, and when about to Tentacle Smash slam it Sight icon reveals both the affected area to allies and itself to enemies.
