Death Defied
Death Defied

Upon taking fatal damage, Karthus remains active for 7 seconds, rendering himself unable to move, to use basic attacks, or to use item actives/passives, but becoming untargetable and invulnerable for the duration as well as being able to use abilities at no cost.

If Defile.png Defile has been learned, it will remain toggled on for Death Defied's entire duration.

Ability Details
Death Defied is a self-targeted on-action effect.

Additional Information:

  • Death Defied will always trigger after revival effects (Guardian Angel item.png Guardian Angel, Chrono Shift.png Chrono Shift) and if Karthus is killed by the Nexus Obelisk.
  • Karthus will still benefit from cooldown reduction during Death Defied.


Lay Waste

Lay Waste

Active: Karthus detonates the target area in the cursor's direction after a 0.5 seconds delay, dealing magic damage to all enemies within, doubled when hitting only one target.

Ability Details
Lay Waste is a ground-targeted area of effect.

Additional Information:

  • Lay Waste briefly grants Sight icon sight before detonation.
  • Lay Waste's single-target damage is listed as a Critical strike icon critical strike both in-game (damage text) and in post-game screen ('Largest Critical Strike') but it cannot actually Critical strike icon critically strike nor will it scale with Infinity Edge item.png Infinity Edge's modifier or trigger Essence Reaver item.png Essence Reaver's mana refund.
  • Lay Waste has a different sound effect when it only hits one target.


Wall of Pain
RANGE: 1000
COST: 100 Mana

Wall of Pain

Active: Karthus creates a wall at the target location for 5 seconds. For the duration, the wall grants Sight icon sight around it, and units who cross it are both Slow icon slowed for 4 seconds, reduced by 50% over the first second, decaying over its duration and lose 15% magic resistance for the same duration.

  • Wall Length: 800 / 900 / 1000 / 1100 / 1200

Wall of Pain is a ground-targeted, linear area of effect.

Additional Information:

  • The Sight icon sight is granted around Wall of Pain's pillars but not the wall itself.
  • Wall of Pain can only affect any given unit once per cast.


Defile

COST: 30 / 42 / 54 / 66 / 78 Mana per second

Toggle Off: Karthus restores mana whenever he kills a unit.

  • Mana Restored: 20 / 27 / 34 / 41 / 48

Toggle On: Karthus deals magic damage per second to all nearby units.

  • Magic Damage Per Second: 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 (+ 20% AP)
Ability Details
Defile is a point-blank, area-of-effect toggle.

Additional Information:

  • Defile also restores mana if Karthus destroys an enemy structure.


Requiem
RANGE: Global
COST: 150 / 175 / 200 Mana
COOLDOWN: 200 / 180 / 160
Requiem

Active: Karthus channels for 3 seconds and deals magic damage to all enemy champions upon its completion.

  • Magic Damage: 250 / 400 / 550 (+ 60% AP)

Karthus cannot move or cancel Requiem after activation until the channel either ends or is interrupted.

Ability Details
Requiem is a global, auto-targeted area of effect.

Additional Information:

  • Requiem's channel is warned of by a large, greenish light beam descending on enemy champions.
    • The beam will not display to enemy champions who were untargetable when Karthus started channeling but they will still be damaged by Requiem if their untargetability wears off once it hits (if it persists when it does they will not be damaged at all)
  • If Requiem's channel is interrupted in some fashion it goes on full cooldown and its cost is not refunded.
