  • This item was inspired by the Iron Solari Conclave, a fan-made forum group that was named after Leona and is supported by IronStylus. Numerous other groups, lead by various Riot staff members, were also formed and "warred" with the Iron Solari, but the Iron Solari were arguably the most successful.
  • Locket of the Iron Solari, Morello's Evil Tome, Youmuu's Ghostblade, Shurelya's Reverie, Randuin's Omen and Deathfire Grasp are a sextet of "sister items" that share the similar features such as an active ability and a gold-generating item in their recipe.

  • This item's active will not stack. Using this item will only refresh the shield on nearby allies.
    • This item's active applies a debuff, Eclipsed, to all shielded allies, where any newly applied shield from other Lockets of the Iron Solari within the next 8 seconds will only be 50% as effective.

  • Thoughts of this on Renekton post-laning phase? It'd be something he could use to help keep his carries alive since he doesn't have any built-in shields, heals or buffs for his teammates.

  • This shield is incredibly weak and I can only see it being useful in close encounters where 1 more attack or a DoT would kill the person

  • I think people in low-level play should be getting this item more often. People in low-level games are more likely to just want to dive the enemy in stupid situations and that instant ~200 damage shield is going to be much more valuable to the team immediately than an Aegis aura or Shurelia's team-speed boost would be in that case.

  • many people dont like this item because they dont use active abilities or even care about passives, they only look at stats, therefore all they see is the +15 hp regen aura and a measly 35 armor and 300 hp, they just think that randuins is better for that sole reason. the shield blocks a maximum of 230, and they don't see that as viable, it is amazing early game, and they also dont realise that when applied to every champion it is equivilent to blocking about 1200 damage. Somebody else should be able to explain this better than me because i build for the lategame as opposed to the earlygame, but..... yeah.

    • You are right bro, but I figured out arguing has become useless now. So I just keep my secretly OP builds for me and endure the flame ingame while I contribute to victory.

  • Aegis provides more effective health for both user and the whole team for less gold and even helps your AD carry a bit.

    • I got some incredibly wicked idea!!!!! try getting aegis together with locket.

      you know, it sounds incredibly dumb, but all shields that are not blitzcranks passive actually scale with resists, so you use the more effective health effect even on solari... this makes your team near unkillable!!!111eleven


      but seriously, locket synergizes very well with aegis since you enhance it's shield with the aegis aura.

  • Does the shield account for resistances like other shields or is it like Blitz shield?

  • I build this on Lulu but recently tried it out on Riven (due to needing the bead early game) and found it to be excellent. The early Armor and regen were a big bonus to survivability. Once finished, and paired up with a fully powered BT, the double shield made her extremely tanky and for such a low cost to boot. If the game lasted longer, I could see building an Atma's after that and then a Randuin's.

  • Shouldn't this item give 5% cooldown reduction, as those items that build from "gold per second" item with an active ability.

  • I have won so many teamfights thanks to this item... I still don't get wy people don't like it. IMO, it's a borderline OP item, and good thing it applies a debuff so you cannot spam it. Oneof the best tank items in the game, and insanely powerful for TeamTowerDiving or counter-initiation.

    • I think the one with highest level in team should get this item to be effective, the hp regen is powerful for laning phase though.

    • I build it on support champions. The highest level in a team is often the AP carry, for which this item is worthless.

    • maybe try to make your tanky ad or tanky jungler buy this? the sololane ad top has the highest level of the team tied with the midlane most of the time. and solari works well against the other toplaner with its armor, regen and shield.

      the tanky for obvious reasons, you could compare it with, dunno, the early agegis you get on some of them, and the next item could be the locket, maybe even for a more "wtf"-moment for the enemy when you gank a lane and treat your mate/s there a nice shield to be more able to help/go in with you.

  • What the hell are you guys talking about ? this items is very good in lategame -> with level 18 it gives every member of your team a 230 dmg shield !!! And it only has 60 sec cooldown ! Also everyone gains 15 hp/s that can save a lot of lifes in teamfights !

  • Does the item give you and all nearby allies an individual shield, or is the shield shared among everyone in range?

    • Everyone gets his own full shield. It's like having 5 Jannas in your team, and this is why I don't understand why people hate this item.

    • because the shield is kinda weak

      but it is a great item for support champs. It can literly change the outcome of a battle

    • it as strong as u defense so if u are tank then it is strong. any ways why wouldn't u want to have the extra hp and i u are not the tank then why are u taking that damge anyways.

  • Useless item. The only role that can maybe get it is support and still. Assuming that everyone will will have their shield broken it is only 230x5=1150 extra hp, which considering, that this is lategame we are talking about. Is not that great. I would say Zeke's or Aegis or shurelias is ALOT better.

    • I'm pretty sure either the aura or the shield had a crapload of range when released. Could be wrong tho, not like I get this every single game i play support.

    • In my memories the range was larger indeed, but I'm sure it has never been global.

  • I'm thinking that Omen is much better..

    • It depends if you are a full tank or a support-tank.

      For instance, if I'm Jarvan, I usually take the omen, and I take the Locket as Leona. Both are initators, but they do not have the same needs.

  • soraka with summoner's heal and Locket. nothing dies. ever.

  • i love this on leona, saved plenty of lifes. PhiloStone>Boots>HoG> Aegis>Kindlegem>Emblem of Valor>Locket of Iron Solari>Shurelias Super Support and pretty Tanky together with W on.

  • Hmm... is it better to get an early game Locket or wait till after I get a few core items? The early shield and health regen is definitely useful early game... but the gp5 from HoG is good as well.

    • Get aegis and forget that this item ever existed.

    • or just buy both of them and give your team mates armor, magic resist, a little of damage, health regen and a shield...

    • Aegis is a crap item. Its aura gives a negligible amount of for the team, and even though the stats themselves are decent for the user itself, there are better items to choose based on that. If you can manage to get the gold early to get an Aegis by 10-15 mins into game, then it could be useful for an eraly item to be sold later on, but after 20 mins, it's simply better to get a better item.

    • ^ not really. it may not give huge amount of stats to your team but it's amazingly cost effective, no reason not to buy it on your support (or tank, if no one else is going to buy it).

    • I usually get both when i play tank. Most of the time teamfights end up "Five for Zero". TANK ALL THE DAMAGE !

  • Shield on demand? A must have vs Karthus.

  • Hum. I can see this item synergizing with Aegis. Nice for supports.

    ...will continue doing HoG-> Randuin's Omen on my Udyr Jungle though.

  • It's a fun item and gives you and your allies more effective health. It's really great on characters that have regen and shielding abilities since it gives a better boost.

  • This item's pretty cute but not super duper useful. I actually buy it all the time on my supports because it's much much cheaper than a Randuin's Omen and I need to upgrade my GP5 items eventually. I mostly use this to get free assists in teamfights. The range is much higher than Randuin's Omen and doesn't require me to get out of position and into melee range for its active to be uselessly helpful at getting me free assists.

  • Cool. It's a League version of Pipe of Insight, except League is a game where AP exists and everyone's capable of growing exponentially powerful using gold/levels, rather than a flat growth by leveling up like in Dota.

    The way it falls off in the late game makes it seem like an item to rush early, so you can gain early game dominance... but it scales off of level, so what the hell.

    This blocks like 30% of the damage of a generic Q spell that cools down every 5 seconds (eg. Annie's).Great. Awesome.
