Void Shift
Void Shift

Innate: Malzahar receives Void Shift if he hasn't taken damage nor been affected by crowd control in the last 30 / 24 / 18 / 12 seconds. Damage from minions does not interact with Void Shift.

Void Shift phases out Malzahar, making him immune to crowd control and taking 90% reduced damage, lingering for 0.25 seconds after taking damage or blocking a crowd control effect.

Ability Details
Void Shift is a self-buff.

Additional Information:

  • Void Shift will not mitigate true damage but the buff will be still consumed

Call of the Void

Active: Malzahar summons two orbs at the target location perpendicular to where he is facing, dealing magic damage to all enemies caught between the orbs and Silence icon silencing them.

  • Magic Damage: 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+ 70% AP)
  • Silence Duration: 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2
Ability Details
Call of the Void is a linear area of effect ability. After a 0.5 seconds delay two waves of void energy are fired from each end point to the other.

Additional Information:

  • Call of the Void provides vision of a small area around it.

Void Swarm

Active: Malzahar spawns a Voidling at the target location for 12 seconds, that deals physical damage plus bonus magic damage on its attacks. Voidlings deal 50% damage to monsters, and 300% damage against minions below 25% maximum health.

The first time a Voidling attacks a champion or large monster, or assists in killing a unit, Malzahar will spawn an additional Voidling with the same remaining duration that can in turn spawn additional Voidlings. This cannot happen if there is less than 4 seconds remaining on the swarm.

When three or more Voidlings are active, they all gain 50% bonus attack speed. Voidlings gain 100% bonus movement speed toward priority targets.

Ability Details
Void Swarm spawns a champion summoned unit that can in turn summon additional units.

Malefic Visions

Active: Malzahar infects the target enemy's mind, dealing them magic damage every half second over 4 seconds. Damaging a target with Call of the Void.png Call of the Void or Nether Grasp.png Nether Grasp will refresh the duration of Malefic Visions.

If the target dies during this time, they pass Malefic Visions onto the closest enemy, refreshing the duration and restoring 2% of Malzahar's maximum mana.

Ability Details
Malefic Visions is a single target damage over time ability that deals magic damage every 0.5 seconds.

Additional Information:

  • Void Swarm.png Voidlings will automatically attack the nearest target affected by Malefic Visions (prioritizing champions) if no target is affected by Nether Grasp.png Nether Grasp.
  • Malefic Visions cannot be removed with Cleanse.png Cleanse but can be by Quicksilver Sash item.png Quicksilver Sash.
  • Malefic Visions does not count as a single target ability when applying Omnivore.


Nether Grasp
RANGE: 700
COST: 100 mana
COOLDOWN: 120 / 100 / 80
Nether Grasp

Active: Malzahar Grounded icon knocks down an enemy champion. For the next 2.5 seconds Malzahar channels, during which the target is Suppression icon suppressed.

A Null Zone is opened beneath the target that lasts 5 seconds, dealing magic damage every second to both Nether Grasp's target as well as all other enemies within it.

Ability Details
Nether Grasp is a channeled tether-like damage over time ability. Both the suppression and tether are removed if the channel is stopped or interrupted.

Additional Information:

  • Nether Grasp's suppression can be removed with Unbreakable Will.png Unbreakable Will, Remove Scurvy.png Remove Scurvy, and Quicksilver Sash item.png Quicksilver Sash.
    • Possible Bug: Ragnarok.png Ragnarok will remove both the suppression and the tethered damage as well as prevent Malzahar from even forming the tether if Ragnarok.png Ragnarok is already active (effectively putting Nether Grasp on cooldown with no effect)
  • Like all channeled abilities, Nether Grasp will be interrupted by hard crowd control (Stun icon stun, Silence icon silence) and will end prematurely if Malzahar performs any other action (moving, casting other abilities)
  • Malzahar is unable to perform any actions for the first 0.5 seconds of the channel to prevent him from accidentally cancelling Nether Grasp.
    • This is the result of high playerbase demand as this happened often to click-heavy players.
  • Nether Grasp's targets may themselves interrupt the channeling if their crowd control abilities are mid-flight or cannot be interrupted.

  • Passive: Voidlings gain 100% bonus movement speed toward high priority targets (denoted above with †).
