I saw you uploaded the new splashes and I'm just wondering: don't you think it's a little counterproductive?
We don't update the existing files because there's always the chance that the update doesn't go through. I feel uploading separate files defeats the whole purpose but also makes things a bit more tedious once the images actually do make it to the live client. We end up deleting these "duplicate" files and have to re-edit the background gallery to remove the non-existing files.
This is just my two cents.
(Reading over myself, I think I come off a bit hostile, but I'm not. It's a bit hard to convey mood through writing :P)
Hmmm, I get where you coming from. I can see how it can be tedious to get rid of the duplicates when the real splash art shows up on the client.
I've been mainly uploading the new splash arts to keep things up-to-date and have the splash arts easily accessible when they do show up on the client. And even when they don't show up on the client (Pantheon's supposed new splash art), it's nice to have it categorized.
When the splash art do show up on the client, I'll be sure to delete the duplicates myself. Though if you prefer that the new splash arts aren't uploaded at all until it appears on the client, I'd be okay with that.
(And don't worry, you didn't come off as hostile at all). =)
