  • As the title says, I have a champ concept sitting in one of my sandbox. To get straight to the point with this sorta copy-paste message, I've been cooking an idea for a "combat medic" champion, but due to being busy, haven't been able to release ideas without fearing that it'll be mostly WIP. Thus, I've opened it up that fellow content creators like you can check it out and, if you wish, edit your own thoughts onto the page. Of course, if possible, put a comment at the bottom of the page like the old talk page style or in the edit-submission-comment section so I know intentions.

The link to the sandbox is here. Thank you and I hope to see a livelihood in the sandbox.

    • Hey, GreenMoriyama, sorry I've been absent, but I haven't forgotten about you.

I was looking at Nevon and thinking about the 'Combat Medic' idea and I had a dream...

What if Nevon was also a botanist? I told Nhan-Fiction that I think the 'Combat Medic' idea needed something else, some other aspect, and you said that Nevon came from Zaun. Well, Zaun has the cultivairs which are: isolated crystal-houses that contain trees and plants as a symbol of their power and a source of clean air.

It is not a stretch of the imagination to have Zaun's medicines and other chemicals derived from plant sources, and it would make Nevon truly legendary if he was Zaun's premier doctor / botanist and the creator of the cultivairs. He very much wants to help people with his medicine, but he also wants to see Zaun (and Piltover) regain the beautiful green plantlife that they've lost due to the urbanization / industrialization.

Him being a botanist also gives League another Plant Champion alongside ZyraSquare Zyra and IvernSquare Ivern but one of a very different flavor. Zyra's plants are harmful and dangerous to non-plant life, and Ivern is a protector of the forest, but Nevon could be the futurist - the one who sees a sustainable healthy human society due to their mastery and support of a harmonius plant ecosystem.

His medical prowess in combat is due to his mastery of using plant-life to make medicine. He probably makes routine expiditions out of Zaun to gather / study plant life, and act as a traveling doctor / combat medic (because Noxus is everywhere these days with their aggressive military expansion).

    • And this is why I sent out these messages, since y'all always have something nice (or decent) to pitch. Because honestly, I didn't realize Zaun had the Cultivairs, unless I haven't been digging for Zaunite information in the right place.

I do agree with you, with all that I've been assembling for Nevon, having him also be a botanist would give him a new face that can be shinied up. Currently, he has much going on, so some parts of what oyu've theorized may not be inserted, but having him study plants and be the founder of the Cultivairs would be a nice touch to who he is, as he is a futurist in ways. Check out the message wall with Double Slap, as they helped me flesh out some of the backstory for him; others such as Will and Primus tweaked his kit around a bit to make it more efficient or worthy of LoL content, be it by editting my sandbox or by chatting with me on the discord.

Back to Nevon, I too agreed with a "Combat Medic" needing more than just being a military doctor, which is why I had also made him partially an engineer so that he won't be asking other Zaunite engineers to spare a few leg braces for his patients.

But with the addition of him being a Botanist, there is more than just human lives that can be at stake here. I will admit, he won't visibly be using plants, but as you say, his medicine will contain them, while his possible bio will show he's a unique Zaunite who believes that (plant) life should grow in Zaunite than letting the pollution continue. If anything, one of his parents could have been a biological pharmacist, and while Nevon took up the greenhouses, he left as per story, not caring enough about the plants; when he returns, he sees that not only are the patients the victim of his blindness by fame and wealth, but the plants in the greenhouse that was cared by his mother or father has suffered too. Going out to research plants could give him more of a reason to venture outside Zaun aside from the "need to save people in war" mantra.

  • Hiya! It's been a while. I thought of you when I saw a recent Dyrus video: right after the time stamp, you can see and hear the enemy Vi's E, even though she isn't revealed directly by any source of vision or detection. Seeing how you covered the topic of vision, detection, invisibility and stealth gameplay extensively, have you considered the topic of self-revealing mechanics? Certain abilities like Aurelion Sol's innate and E, or Shaco's Q, are special-cased to be visible even from the Fog of War, but in general there doesn't seem to be much consistency to which effects can be seen or heard from outside detection.

Going back to stealth gameplay, this could potentially be interesting to define better, because just as there's a lot more that can be done with stealth champions, there's also likely more that can be done with non-stealthy champions, or champions whose playstyle or theme is so antithetical to stealth that they'd announce themselves even if you aren't specifically detecting them. Other effects I think are worth considering are abilities like Nunu's ult, whose invisibility while in brush was defended by Riot several times in the past, versus more modern effects like Ornn's ultimate.

    • Oh man, sorry for the huge delay. Haven't logged in for a while.

I was actually thinking about this just the other day! Not that Dyrus video exactly, but Vi being a great example of an un-stealthy champion which fits her thematically and was probably unintentional on Riot's part. I mean, did they implement the shockwaves from her E with the realization that Vi could be seen, and that the Vi player would have to work extra hard to be stealthy? Maybe, IDK.

My next project will probably be a video where I talk about stealth in League, but that's a lot of work and requires a lot of learning software and finding clips and whatnot. Maybe one day though. :)

    • That sounds amazing! Best of luck on the video, and if there is any way I can help, please let me know!

  • I've finally put in source code a concept that gave me headaches but he solution came in a dream, and now that is sort of done (lacks ability details, so I'm open to questions) wanted someone to show.

And by the nature of the concept thought about you and your vision fetish. You want to see it?

  • Sorry it took so long but I responded to the question you left me on your user blog. I'll post it here for convenience:

My first though (even before reading KindleJack's response) was a Robin Hood-themed support of stealing from the rich (enemy) and giving to the poor (ally). Key Pillars are hard because with Sion they knew what they wanted visually and thematically whereas the only thing I really expect of a thief is for them to be cloaked and for them to steal things.

I think an interesting idea that could really amp up the Robin Hood-esque theme of stealing from the rich the champ would be like if they had a Q that stole health from an enemy and then upon reactivation let you grant that health to ally it would also heal more if your ally has less current health than the enemy by a %.

In my ideal world it would be a female noxian who could go solo or support but as for a fully fleshed out kit there's just so many places you could go that it's hard or me to think of 5 cohesive abilities.
