Physical damage is one of the three types of damage in League of Legends, the others being true damage and magic damage. Physical damage is dealt by all basic attacks, by some champion abilities and by some item effects.

Statistics influencing physical damage

Most physical damage is based on the champion's attack damage (but not all damage based on attack damage does physical damage). The physical autoattack damage is increased by attack speed, critical strike and armor penetration or reduction. A small number of champion abilities that deal physical damage can be strengthened with ability power.

Not all physical damage sources proc life steal, but most that apply on-hit effects do.

Champion abilities dealing physical that don't proc on-hit effects usually proc spell vamp.

The amount of physical damage received is reduced by a certain percentage based on the target's armor or other damage reducing effects, such as Alistar Alistar's Unbreakable Will.png Unbreakable Will. The effectiveness of armor can be reduced with armor penetration or reduction.

Items that deal physical damage

  • Blade of the Ruined King item.png Blade of the Ruined King: Passive: Unique: Basic attacks deal 8% of the target's current health bonus on-hit physical damage (max 60 against minions and monsters). Active: Unique: Deals 10% of target champion's maximum health (min 100) physical damage, heals for the same amount, and steals 25% of the target's movement speed for 3 seconds (550 range) (90 second cooldown).
  • Dead Man's Plate item.png Dead Man's Plate: Passive: Unique – Crushing Blow: Basic attacks (on-hit) discharge all Momentum, dealing +1 on-hit physical damage for every 2 Momentum discharged. If 100 stacks are discharged, damage is doubled to +100 and Slow icon slows its target by 50%, decaying over 1 second.
  • Bloodrazor item.png Bloodrazor: Passive: Unique: Basic attacks deal 4% of the target’s maximum health bonus physical damage on-hit, capped at 75 damage against minions and monsters.
  • Iceborn Gauntlet item.png Iceborn Gauntlet: Passive: Unique – Spellblade: After using an ability, your next basic attack (on-hit) creates an Icy Zone under the target, dealing (100% base AD) bonus physical damage to all enemies in the zone (1.5 second cooldown). Passive: Unique – Icy Zone: The zone lasts for 2 seconds, and Slow icon slows enemies within by 30%. The zone has a radius of 180 (+ 55% bonus armor) units.
  • Muramana item.png Muramana: Passive: Unique – Shock: Unit-targeted abilities and basic attacks on champions (on-hit) consume 3% current mana to deal 6% current mana bonus physical damage. This effect only activates while you have greater than 20% maximum mana.
  • Ravenous Hydra item.png Ravenous Hydra: Passive: Unique – Cleave: Basic attacks deal (20% to 60% AD) physical damage to units around your target – (20% AD near the edge) (350 units radius). Active: Unique – Crescent: Deals (60% to 100% AD) physical damage to units around you – (60% AD near the edge) (400 units radius) (10 second cooldown).
  • Recurve Bow item.png Recurve Bow: Passive: Unique: +15 on-hit physical damage
  • Runaan's Hurricane item.png Runaan's Hurricane: Passive: Unique: +15 on-hit physical damage Passive: Unique – Wind's Fury: When Basic attacking, bolts are fired at up to 2 enemies near the target, each dealing 25% AD physical damage. Bolts can Critical strike icon critically strike and apply on-hit effects.
  • Sheen item.png Sheen: Passive: Unique – Spellblade: After using an ability, your next basic attack (on-hit) deals (100% base AD) bonus physical damage (1.5 second cooldown).
  • Tiamat item.png Tiamat: Passive: Unique – Cleave: Basic attacks deal (20% to 60% AD) physical damage to units around your target – (20% AD near the edge) (350 units radius). Active: Unique – Crescent: Deals (60% to 100% AD) physical damage to units around you – (60% AD near the edge) (400 units radius) (10 second cooldown).
  • Titanic Hydra item.png Titanic Hydra: Passive: Unique – Cleave: Basic attacks deal 5 (+ 1% maximum health) bonus on-hit physical damage. Additionally, basic attacks also deal 40 (+ 2.5% maximum health) physical damage in a cone to units behind the target (700 range). Active: Unique – Crescent: On your next basic attack, Cleave's damage to all targets is increased to 40 (+ 10% maximum health) and has a larger cone (20 second cooldown). Crescent resets your autoattack timer.
  • Trinity Force item.png Trinity Force: Passive: Unique – Spellblade: After using an ability, your next basic attack (on-hit) deals (200% base AD) bonus physical damage (1.5 second cooldown).
