Physical damage is one of the three types of damage in League of Legends, the others being true damage and magic damage. Physical damage is dealt by all basic attacks, by some champion abilities and by some item effects.

Statistics influencing physical damage

Most physical damage is based on the champion's attack damage (but not all damage based on attack damage does physical damage). The physical autoattack damage is increased by attack speed, critical strike and armor penetration or reduction. A small number of champion abilities that deal physical damage can be strengthened with ability power.

Not all physical damage sources proc life steal, but most that apply on-hit effects do.

Champion abilities dealing physical that don't proc on-hit effects usually proc spell vamp.

The amount of physical damage received is reduced by a certain percentage based on the target's armor or other damage reducing effects, such as Alistar's Alistar's Unbreakable Will Unbreakable Will. The effectiveness of armor can be reduced with armor penetration or reduction.

Items that deal physical damage

  • Blade of the Ruined King Blade of the Ruined King: Passive: Unique – Clawing Shadows: Your next basic attack on-hit against an enemy champion is empowered to Slow icon slow them by (Melee role 30% / Ranged role 15%) for 1 second (15 second cooldown). 
  • Dead Man's Plate Dead Man's Plate: Passive: Unique – Unsinkable: Gain 25% Slow immune icon slow resist.
  • Bloodrazor Bloodrazor: Passive: Unique: Basic attacks deal 4% of the target's maximum health bonus physical damage on-hit, capped at 75 damage against minions and monsters.
  • Iceborn Gauntlet Iceborn Gauntlet: Passive: Unique – Spellblade: After using an ability, your next basic attack within 10 seconds deals 100% base AD bonus physical damage on-hit and creates a 300 radius frost field for 2 seconds. Enemies within the field are slowed by (Melee role 15% / Ranged role 7.5%) (+ (Melee role 0.4% / Ranged role 0.2%) per 100 maximum health) (1.5 (begins after using the empowered attack) second cooldown). 
  • Muramana Muramana: Passive: Unique – Shock: Basic attacks on-hit against champions deal 1.5% maximum mana bonus physical damage. Dealing ability damage to champions deals (Melee role 3.5% / Ranged role 2.7%) maximum mana (+ 6% AD) bonus physical damage. Can only be triggered on the same target once every 6.5 seconds from the same attack or cast.
  • Ravenous Hydra Ravenous Hydra: Active: Unique – Ravenous Crescent: Deal 100% AD physical damage to enemies within a Range center 450 radius in front of you (10 second cooldown).
  • Recurve Bow Recurve Bow: Passive: Sting: Basic attacks deal 15 bonus magic damage on-hit.
  • Runaan's Hurricane Runaan's Hurricane: Passive: Unique – Peck: Basic attacks deal 30 bonus magic damage on-hit. Passive: Unique – Wind's Fury: Basic attacks on-attack fire additional bolts at up to 2 enemies in front of you, each dealing 40% AD physical damage. Bolts apply On-hit icon on-hit effects at 100% effectiveness and are affected by Critical strike icon critical strike modifiers.
    The bolts will target the closest enemies to you that are not the main target.
  • Sheen Sheen: Passive: Unique – Spellblade: After using an ability, your next basic attack within 10 seconds deals 100% base AD bonus physical damage on-hit (1.5 (begins after using the empowered attack) second cooldown).
  • Tiamat Tiamat: Passive: Unique – Cleave: Basic attacks on-hit deal (Melee role 40% AD / Ranged role 20% AD) physical damage to other enemies in a Range center 350 radius centered around the target. Active: Unique – Crescent: Deal 75% AD physical damage to enemies within a Range center 450 radius in front of you (10 second cooldown).
  • Titanic Hydra Titanic Hydra: Passive: Unique – Cleave: Basic attacks on-hit deal (Melee role 1.5% / Ranged role 0.75%) maximum health bonus physical damage to the target and (Melee role 3% / Ranged role 1.5%) maximum health physical damage to other enemies in a cone in the direction of the primary target. Active: Unique – Titanic Crescent: Your next basic attack within 10 seconds empowers Cleave to deal (Melee role 4% / Ranged role 2%) maximum health bonus physical damage to the primary target and (Melee role 9% / Ranged role 4.5%) maximum health physical damage to secondary targets (10 (begins after using the empowered attack) second cooldown).
    Titanic Crescent resets the user's basic attack timer.
  • Trinity Force Trinity Force: Passive: Unique – Spellblade: After using an ability, your next basic attack within 10 seconds deals 200% base AD bonus physical damage on-hit (1.5 (begins after using the empowered attack) second cooldown).

Champions that only deal physical damage

The following list consists of champions that only deal physical damage (not counting sources other than abilities and basic attacks, such as Ignite Ignite, Crest of Cinders Crest of Cinders or Leona's Leona's Sunlight Sunlight):

These are champions' abilities that deal physical damage but scale with ability power :

  • Akali's Akali's Crescent Slash Crescent Slash deals 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 + (40% AP) + (60% AD) physical damage.
  • Evelynn's Evelynn's Ravage Ravage deals 35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 + (50% AP) + (50% bonus AD) physical damage per hit.
  • Ezreal's Ezreal's Mystic Shot Mystic Shot deals 35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 + (40% AP) + (110% AD) physical damage.
  • Gnar's Gnar's GNAR! GNAR! deals 200 / 300 / 400 + (50% AP) + (20% bonus AD) physical damage.
  • Irelia's Irelia's Transcendent Blades Transcendent Blades deals 80 / 120 / 160 + (50% AP) + (60% bonus AD) physical damage per blade.
  • Jax's Jax's Leap Strike Leap Strike deals 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 + (60% AP) + (100% bonus AD) physical damage.
  • Jhin's Jhin's Dancing Grenade Dancing Grenade deals 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 + (60% AP) + (30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% AD) physical damage per bounce.
  • Lucian's Lucian's The Culling The Culling deals 20 / 35 / 50 + (10% AP) + (20% AD) physical damage per shot.
  • Malphite's Malphite's Brutal Strikes Brutal Strikes deals 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 + (10% AP) + (15% armor) bonus physical damage per basic attack.
  • Miss Fortune's Miss Fortune's Double Up Double Up deals 20 / 35 / 50 / 65 / 80 + (35% AP) + (85% AD) physical damage to the first target and 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 + (50% AP) + (100% AD) physical damage to the second target.
  • Quinn's Quinn's Blinding Assault Blinding Assault deals 20 / 45 / 70 / 95 / 120 + (50% AP) + (80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120% AD) physical damage.
  • Sivir's Sivir's Boomerang Blade Boomerang Blade deals 25 / 45 / 65 / 85 / 105 + (50% AP) + (70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 100% AD) physical damage.
  • Tristana's Tristana's Explosive Charge Explosive Charge deals 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 + (50% AP) + (50 / 65 / 80 / 95 / 110% bonus AD) physical damage.
  • Tryndamere's Tryndamere's Spinning Slash Spinning Slash deals 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 + (100% AP) + (120% bonus AD) physical damage.
  • Twitch's Twitch's Contaminate Contaminate deals 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 + (20% AP) + (25% bonus AD) physical damage per stack.
