Smite is a unit-targeted summoner spell that deals 390 - 1000 (based on level) true damage to a monster or enemy minion, and heals for 100 (+ 10% maximum health) against large monsters. It is available on Summoner's Rift and Twisted Treeline. It is required to buy Hunter's Machete item.png Hunter's Machete and Hunter's Talisman item.png Hunter's Talisman. Smite starts with one charge and gains an additional charge every 90 seconds starting from 1:40, with a maximum of 2 charges.

Upgrades

The following items upgrade Smite.png Smite by granting additional effects:

  • Skirmisher's Sabre item.png Skirmisher's Sabre: Challenging Smite can be cast on enemy champions, True Sight icon revealing them for 4 seconds, reducing their damage against you by 20% and making them take 60 - 162 (based on level) true damage over 3 seconds from your basic attacks for the duration.
  • Stalker's Blade item.png Stalker's Blade: Chilling Smite can be cast on enemy champions, dealing 28 - 166 (based on level) true damage and stealing 20% of their movement speed for 2 seconds.

Strategy

  • Smite.png Smite is generally used for jungling. Beyond dramatically speeding up clear time, its high damage provides a strategic last-hit advantage at high-priority buffs like Dragon Dragon and Baron Nashor Baron Nashor.
  • Smite.png Smite can also be used to push a lane more quickly. When doing so, it's generally best to save Smite.png Smite for siege minions.
    • An unconventional use of Smite.png Smite is to instantly and unexpectedly kill a minion to land skillshots such as Rocket Grab.png Rocket Grab or Death Sentence.png Death Sentence on enemy champions behind it.
  • Smite.png Smite deals true damage, so it will always deal the stated amount; it cannot be reduced or amplified in any way other than a few exceptions, such as the bonus damage against the Rift Scuttler Rift Scuttler under hard crowd control.
  • Smite.png Smite can target pets, such as Tibbers Tibbers, Malzahar Malzahar's Summon Voidling.png Voidlings, and Zac Zac's Cell Division.png bloblets. It's also a very effective counter to Shaco Shaco's Jack in the Box.png boxes.
  • Smite.png Smite heals Hecarim Hecarim while his Spirit of Dread.png Spirit of Dread is activated.
  • Smite.png Smite can be cast while Silence icon silenced.
