Kai is a custom champion in League of Legends designed for CCC4.

Reckless Magicks

Kai's spellcasts each build up 5 stacks of Ascendance, capped at 100. For each stack, Kai gains 1.5 additional movement speed and an extra 0.2% AP. However, for each stack, Kai deals 0.5% of his current health in magic damage to himself when he uses an ability. Stacks decay after going 10 seconds without using an ability.

Ability Details
Reckless Magicks is a self-buff ability.

Additional Information:

  • Damage dealt back to Kai is reduced by resistances, but is not increased by Magic Penetration or MR reduction.

Psychic Flux
RANGE: 800
COST: 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 Mana

Active: Kai releases a blast of arcane energy that bounces off of terrain, dealing magic damage and revealing enemies hit. If the bolt hits terrain before impacting an enemy, this ability deals bonus true damage and gains 500 additional range. The projectile can bounce multiple times, but the bonus range and damage only applies once.

  • Magic Damage: 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+ 60% AP)
  • Bonus True Damage: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 (+ 30% AP)
Ability Details
Psychic Flux is a linear, colliding skillshot that damages the first enemy unit it collides with.

Additional Information:

  • The range affects the total distance traveled by the projectile, not the distance from the caster. Even if the projectile bounces and gains the additional range, it may still not travel farther than a normal cast without the range boost.
  • Psychic Flux grants vision for 0.5 seconds on enemies hit.

Mystic Strike
RANGE: 300
COST: 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 / 75 Mana

Active: Kai's next basic attack lunges toward an enemy and strikes into the target's arcane energy, dealing bonus magic damage and temporarily draining 2.5% of their attack damage and ability power for 10 seconds. Drained stats can stack up to a maximum of 5 stacks.

  • Bonus Magic Damage: 5 / 25 / 45 / 65 / 85 (+ 50% AP)(+ 5% AD)
Ability Details
Mystic Strike is an autoattack modifier dash.

Additional Information:

  • Stolen AP only takes into account the target's current AP, so successive uses of Mystic Strike will yield diminishing results.
  • Mystic Strike resets Kai's attack timer on cast.
  • Bonus damage from Mystic Strike applies to structures, but the AD/AP steal does not.

RANGE: 600 / 650 / 700 / 750 / 800
COST: 80 Mana

Active: Kai moves through the fog of war to appear at the target location. If Kai reappears near an enemy champion, his next cast of Mystic Strike within 3 seconds will deal bonus damage and briefly stun the target. This ability can only be used for locations in the fog of war.

  • Bonus Damage: 55% / 70% / 85% / 100% / 115%
  • Stun: 0.25 / 0.5 / 0.75 / 1 / 1.25 seconds
Ability Details
Mistveil is a ground targeted blink.

Additional Information:

  • There is a short delay before Kai arrives at the target location.

COST: 120
COOLDOWN: 40 / 30 / 20

Active: Kai dashes behind a target enemy, dealing magic damage and marking them for 5 seconds. If the enemy dies before the mark expires, the cooldown on this ability is reset and Kai gains 15% of the target's AP and AD for 10 seconds. Use of this ability grants double the normal Ascendance stacks.

  • Magic Damage: 130 / 180 / 250 (+ 55% AP)
Ability Details
Adept is a single target dash.

Kai Munaro was born the child of beggars, living off of gold pickpocketed from wealthy Demacians as they passed. Kai was a dreamer, and even as a small child he dreamed of great things. He heard tales of mages bending the arcane to their will, and was entirely enthralled. He decided that someone must be able to give him those powers, if only he could find this person and have enough gold to pay. It did not breach Kai's 9-year-old mind that he simply was not born with the gift of magic, but that did not stop him from trying. He used every trick in his already formidable book to steal enough gold, but he had no way of knowing how much would be enough.

Sixteen years later, Kai still had not given up on his dreams of becoming a mage. He had the underworld of Demacia wrapped around his finger, but he would give it all up in an instant if it meant realization of his quest. When Kai caught wind of a priceless magical artifact held in the Institute of War, he knew that this may well be exactly what he had been looking for all those years. Kai didn't have a choice; his wildest dreams were finally within arm's reach; he couldn't resist taking the chance. Kai nearly became the first thief to successfully steal from the League of Legends, but as he made his exit he found himself surrounded by guards. Kai couldn't fight his way out, so he did the unexpected: he tapped into the full arcane energy of the artifact, flinging the guards about like ragdolls. While he couldn't escape in time to avoid imprisonment, the League's summoners were impressed by his display of magical aptitude and offered him a deal: work for his freedom by becoming a champion on the Fields of Justice.

Possible builds

Summoner's Rift
Starting Doran's Ring item Health Potion item2 Scrying Orb item
Essential Abyssal Scepter item Sorcerer's Shoes item Lich Bane item
Offensive Rabadon's Deathcap item Void Staff item Morellonomicon item
Defensive Liandry's Torment item Zhonya's Hourglass item Banshee's Veil item
Consumables Health Potion item Mana Potion item Sight Ward item

Kai's mediocre AP scaling and self-dealt magic damage make Abyssal Scepter possibly the single best item for him. The MR reduction helps him deal much more damage while the MR reduces the damage he deals to himself. Lich Bane is great on Kai as well due to his low base cooldowns and the fact that he deals the majority of his damage in autoattack range. For the trinket, it's a toss-up between Warding Totem and Scrying Orb. Warding Totem is a far more useful trinket for the team, but use of it reduces Kai's own mobility with his E. On the other hand, Scrying Orb sucks.

Author Notes

Kai is intended as a midlaner. He functions as an anti-mage assassin similar to Kassadin with a Diana-like ult. He is extremely sticky and extremely slippery, with only one ability that is not a dash or blink.
