Moderators are forced to clean up unsourced coding D:

Hi guys, this is another blog to help you with editing. This time, its about SOURCE CODE (it's been a while, but the blogs are hard to make D: )

So lately, I've been noticing how most editors don't really use source code, or templates in general. This little blog will give you some of the basics of coding.

General

  • Template:Stub helps to show users which articles are needed to be cleaned up, as the page lacks information. Put this at the top of the page in question. If you think that an article has enough information to look complete, remove this template from the page.
  • There is Template:Upcoming shows you that a page is subject to extreme changes at random (like Dominion or Magma Chamber)
  • <nowiki> </nowiki> lets you see the text coding for things without automatically turning it into templates.
  • <poll> </poll> lets you create a... well... poll. Remember you can have as many options as you need.
This is the basic code template

<poll>

Question
Option 1
Option 2
Option 3

</poll>

Example
Why do you like League of Legends?

786

26

216

The poll was created at 01:10 on September 23, 2011, and so far 1028 people voted.

Titles

  • =Title= is a heading. Adding another '=' on both ends turns it into a subsequent subheading (maximum six = on each side)

Indentation, Bullet Points, and Numbering

Using : at the start of a line creates an indent, which can then be subindented the more : are added.

The same applies for bullet points (use *)

Editing

There are many source code templates for editing on this wiki.

  • [[Internal Link]] redirects you to the page on this wiki that has the same name. When the page exists, and the link works, it will appear blue (on this wiki, others will have different link colors) IF the page does not exist, the link will be red.
  • {{w|Wikipedia Article}} (Template:W) functions like a Wikipedia link.
  • {{wikia|Wikia Name|Said Wikia's Article}} (Template:Wikia) functions like an inter-wikia link.
  • {{ci|Champion Name|Custom Text}} (Template:Champion icon) references champions.
  • {{csl|Champion Name|Said Champion's Skin Name|Custom Text}} (Template:Champion skin link) references skins.
  • {{ii|Item Name|Custom Text}} (Template:Item icon) references items.

Remember: If the template messes up, check your spelling.

Conclusion

Demise101 Offer to help new editors

Until my next blog, please amuse yourself with this (no really, I can help :D)

I hope that many people can read this blog, as source code is very useful and can be used across other wikis (ii, ci, ai, and cai templates are unique to this wiki, though - thanks Nystus XD)

Remember, I actually LIKE helping people, so don't be afraid to ask :D
