Elise was released under advertisement of a champion that can switch between a regal mage or a deadly spider assassin on a whim. Like all transform champions before her, she struggled to strike a balance between having access to 6 abilities early game and lacking the power-spike/big-finisher of an ultimate - either doomed to fall off as the game transitioned into late game or to be hit by the nerf bat. Unfortunately, she fell into the latter category and after a long series of nerfs to her damage, mobility and durability - she's been left in a spot where she's almost exclusively played as a tank. Similar to Ahri, I feel Elise needs to take a few steps backward and for a new direction to be chosen for her balance changes.

  • Spider Queen Spider Queen
    • Revised Innate: While in Spider Form, Elise surrounds herself with 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 (based on level) untargetable spiderlings that attack nearby foes. Spiderlings deal 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 (+10% AP) magic damage, based on ranks in Spider Form Spider Form.
      • Human form effect removed.
      • Maximum number of spiderlings is now irrelevant of Spider Form's Spider Form's rank.
      • Spiderlings are now untargetable.
      • Potential Balance Lever: Spiderlings beyond the first will deal reduced damage or Spiderlings beyond the first deal no base damage.
  • Neurotoxin Neurotoxin (Q)
    • Damage increased to 50 / 95 / 140 / 185 / 230 from 40 / 75 / 110 / 145 / 180.

      • Human form effect removed.
      • Maximum number of spiderlings is now irrelevant of Spider Form's Spider Form's rank.

If the webbing collides with an enemy while in flight or an enemy walks through the wall once it is standing, it will collapse coating all enemies in a wide area with web: slowing their movement speed by 99% that decays over 1 second and causing enemy champions to leaving behind a trail of webbing for 5 seconds.

  • Pending ultimate... any ideas?

  • I am thinking-out-loud here. Feel free to contribute and critique.

The beautiful thing about Gnar is that he gets all the fun of a shape-shifter AND all the fun of an ultimate.

    Non-ultimate shape-shifters:

    1. One of the basic abilities, as with Rek'Sai.
    2. A resource system that unlocks an alternate set of abilities.
      1. As with Gnar, this could be a manditory shapeshift that will trigger after a delay.
      2. As with one of my proposed Quinn changes, this is optional and the resouce will deplete if you do not transform during the window of opportunity.
    3. One of the basic abilities but it can only be activated in certain conditions - imagine Volibear's Frenzy, or Jax's old Counter Strike.
    4. A system similar to Lee Sin, where each basic ability has a natural transformation follow-up. You would remain transformed for a fixed duration, as with Gnar.
    5. Unlocking an alternate set of abilities when a certain condition is met - such as being reduced below a certain health value, or reducing an enemy below a certain health value, or if an enemy is made vulnerable (CC'd, etc).
      1. This could be mandatory - meaning you will always transform when you reduce someone below 20% health (or, gated by a cooldown).
      2. This could be optional - although I do not yet know how the "optional" would be catered to without taking up a button. Perhaps, you can issue an extended movement/attack command to channel the transformation.
    6. A certain chain of abilities will trigger the transformation - such as attacking an encumbered target, or landing two abilities on the same target.

    • Spider Swarm Spider Swarm (I)
      • Elise now summons spiderlings in her human form. This could be under the same mechanic as live (whenever she lands an ability), or it could require a little more interaction.
    • Neurotoxin Neurotoxin (Q)
      • Can be cast on spiderlings to make them volatile (as with my Mage Rework).
    • Spider Form Spider Form (W)
      • Now a basic ability.
    • New Ultimate (R)
      • BANG!

    A - Mandatory
    • Spider Form Spider Form (I)
      • Elise generates Frenzy while in combat. At 100 Frenzy she gains access to an alternate set of abilities and casting one will transform her into a spider. After 4 seconds she will transform into a spider anyway.
    B - Optional
    • Spider Form Spider Form (I)
      • Elise generates Frenzy whenever she casts an ability, up to 100. At 100 Frenzy, she gains access to an alternate set of abilities for 6 seconds and casting one will transform her into a spider. If she does not transform, her Frenzy will decay to 0. Or her Frenzy could decay over the 6 seconds - for some functionality. A benefit to transforming quickly?

    ...

    • New Ultimate (R)
      • BANG!

  • Neurotoxin Neurotoxin
    • Elise gains the ability to cast Venomous Bite for 3 seconds.
  • ... or ...

    • Cocoon Cocoon (E)
      • Live Effect: If Elise lands Cocoon on an enemy, she gains the ability to cast Spider Form for 3 seconds.
      • Duellist Rework Effect: Applying 3 stacks of webbing will stun the target and grant Elise the ability to cast Spider Form for 3 seconds.
    • New Ultimate (R)
      • BANG!

  • Spider Form Spider Form (I)
    • Casting Venomous Bite, Skittering Frenzy or Rappel will cause Elise to transform into a spider for 15 seconds.
  • Neurotoxin Neurotoxin (Q)
    • Elise gains the ability to cast Venomous Bite for 3 seconds.
  • Volatile Spiderling Volatile Spiderling (W)
    • Elise gains the ability to cast Skittering Frenzy for 3 seconds.
  • Cocoon Cocoon (E)
    • Elise gains the ability to cast Rappel for 3 seconds.
  • New Ultimate (R)
    • BANG!
  • Admitedly the specific abilities would need to chain a little more... naturally. Maybe:

    • Human W: Elise hurls a nest at the target location, dealing magic damage on impact and summoning a number of spiderlings. Elise gains the ability to cast Skittering Frenzy for 3 seconds.
    • Human E: Adhesive Webbing
To be honest, this mechanic probably doesn't suit Elise. Some of her abilities chain naturally, but it would be impossible to make all of them chain naturally while also working as standard Q/W/E kits in both forms (...and still be Elise). Another champion maybe.

    • Spider Form Spider Form (I)
      • A) Whenever an enemy champion is dropped below 50% of their maximum health, Elise enters a frenzy - enabling her to cast an alternate set of abilities for 3 seconds. Casting one of those abilities will transform Elise into a spider for 15 seconds. Enemy champions cannot send Elise into a Frenzy again for 15 seconds, starting either after she returns to human form or upon opting not to transform.
      • B) Whenever an enemy champion takes more than 20% of their current health as damage, Elise enters a frenzy...
      • C) Whenever an enemy's movement is inhibited (stunned, rooted, etc), Elise enters a frenzy...
On my Quinn rework I basically had her transformation hinder on "Vulnerability", and I just played around with that makes an enemy Vulnerable. On Quinn, the intent was to require team work (Quinn is the original teamwork ADC) - so you need an ally with CC to use Tag Team. That sort of thing. On Elise, she has her own stun, but interacting with allies is still fun.
