Leaked Champion: Vel'Koz

This blog is now retired.  Vel'Koz has been revealed - terror is coming!

Here's all the hints we have about the next champion:

I'm a little sad it's premature to start hinting at the next champ. I've been eyeballing some amazing puns for when the time is right. Since you guys will read way too much into everything I say, I'll try to remember that silence is golden and all of the cake in this post is a lie.
I haven't checked the launch date of the next champ yet. [...] It will be a fun champ, though. Nothing you'll see coming.
Oh, and keep an eye out for an invasion from the Outside.

So, without further a-do, meet Vel'Koz!

You may recognize him from Creator Viktor's splash artwork:

The image on the right is from the original splash art.

Or from the iconography used by the Frostguard, presumably of the Watchers:

You may have even been unfortunate as to have Vel'Koz interrupt your Youtube videos:

The official Garena League of Legends Facebook page posted a clip of Vel'Koz.

And here's his leaked abilities:

Here's my interpretation of the in-game tooltips and the images:

    Some mechanic that silences.

    Plasma Fission
    • Cooldown: X / X / X / 4.75 / X
    • Cost: X / X / X / 52 / X mana

Active: Vel'Koz fires an bolt energy that detonates upon reactivation or hitting an enemy, exploding in a line tangent to the direction of cast. Enemies hit take magic damage and are slowed by 80% for 1.25 seconds. The slow decays over the duration.

    • Magic Damage: X / X / X / 175 / X (+%AP)
    Void Rift
    • Cooldown: ~1 second
    • Cost: 40 / X / X / X / X mana + 1 charge

Active: Vel'Koz calls a laser from the void that cuts through the ground in a line, dealing magic damage and leaving behind a trail for 3 seconds that deals magic damage per second to enemies who stand upon it. Deals on 60% damage to minions.

Velkoz stores a charge of Void Rift every few seconds, and can store up to 2 charges. (I would wager that the damage areas don't overlap if stacked.)

    • Initial Magic Damage: 60 / X / X / X / X (+%AP)
    • Magic Damage Per Second: 20 / X / X / X / X (+%AP)
    • Maximum Damage: 120 / X / X / X / X (%AP)
    • Recharge Time: 18 / X / X / X / X
    Tectonic Disruption
    • Cooldown: 14 / X / X / X / X
    • Cost: 35 / X / X / X / X mana

Active: Vel'Koz creates an anomaly at the target location. After a brief delay, the anomaly collapses dealing magic damage and knocking up enemies hit for 0.75 seconds. Any enemies hit that are close to Vel'Koz are slightly knocked away from him instead.

    • Initial Magic Damage: 70 / X / X / X / X (+%AP)
    Lifeform Disintegration Ray
    • Cooldown: 120 / X / X
    • Cost: 100 mana

Active: Vel'Koz roots himself in place for 2.6 seconds and unleashes a laser forward in a line, damaging all enemies caught in its wake at 0.26 second intervals and slowing them by 20% for 1 seconds. The laser's trajectory will update over the duration to always be facing the cursor. Deals 500% damage to minions. Can be cancelled by moving.

    • Magic Damage Per Interval: 30 / X / X (+%AP)
    • Maximum Damage: 300 / X / X (+%AP)

    The Year of the Void

For a second, imagine that Vel'Koz is one of Lissandra's Watchers.

Now, imagine for a second that the iconic canyon within the Howling Abyss is completely irrelevant to the lore.

Play "A bottomless crevasse surrounded by an ancient fortress carved into a glacier. [...] Avarosa drove them howling into the Abyss. "

That bottomless crevasse, that abyss... it's the Void. Lissandra wasn't being poetic. The Watchers were literally banished into The Abyss. That gate, set into a glacier, surrounded by a fortress and locked with a carving of Vel'Koz: maybe it guards a portal to the void. Lissandra states that only she knows the true purpose of that place. If this is true: the Iceborn and Voidborn are both servants of the Watchers, and not even Lissandra knows where the Watchers originate from.

Play "The Watchers return and they are so pleased with you."

Lissandra states that the Watchers return. Present tense.  Cho'Gath,  Kha'Zix and  Kog'Maw. Tentacles can be seen destroying a city in Hired Gun Lucian's splash artwork and luring Kassadin in the the Void.

    It's all connected.
