Yorick a level 1 with 3 spectral ghouls standing around him.

Everyone's favourite Rioter is on a roll and he's only just finished with Xerath. He's already stated that Yorick's rework will be much more expansive than Xerath's (which is saying a lot since Xerath's is pretty expansive). Xelnath describes Yorick as a "no brain champion", which is ironic really. Based on analytics, Yorick will win the lane but more often than not: lose the game. This no-risk-bully play style will be addressed, although all intentions are to keep him a front-line champion.

At the moment the community has formed into two very distinct groups: the players who want a necromancer style of player, with more ways to interact with ghouls; and the players who want a strong melee fighter (f**k the ghouls). Xelnath is leaning in favour of the first group as, quite frankly, there are lots of strong melee fighters and only one necromancer. As such, Yorick's rework will focus on his theme as "commander of the damned"; making his ghouls more intrinsic and important, and less about free harass.

From the drafts Xelnath has already proposed, Yorick's ghouls appear to be heading in a spiderling direction (follow him around and last indefinitely).


He started us off with two kits (1a and 1b), and proceeded to "revise" based on player feedback.

Unholy Covenant.png Expiration Date
  • Yorick's summons a spectral ghoul every 30 seconds, reduced by 2 seconds whenever Yorick lands an attack. Ghouls have 25% of his health and 10% of his total attack damage. If Yorick controls more than 3 ghouls, they will slowly lose health over time until only 3 ghouls remain.
  • Yorick's ghouls guard him by default, following him around and attacking nearby enemies (prioritizing his attack target). While Yorick has at least one ghoul guarding him, he will take 20% reduced damage that is shared among ghouls that are guarding him. Yorick can command his ghouls to do other actions using his abilities.
Omen of War.png Shovel Sweep
  • Yorick cleaves all enemies in front of him with his shovel, dealing (+AD) physical damage. If any ghouls are alive when cast, they will also cleave in an area around them, dealing 20% of that damage. The damage areas will stack.
  • If a champion or large jungle monster is slain within 2 seconds of being struck by this ability, Yorick will instantly revive a spectral ghoul.
Omen of Pestilence.png Pestilent Ichor
  • Yorick lobs a glob of corpse rot at the target location, dealing (+AD) physical damage to all enemies in an area and slowing them for 1.5 seconds.
  • Ghouls hit by the corpse rot will become explosive ghouls and will rush toward the nearest enemy champion, exploding upon contact and dealing (+AD) physical damage and slowing nearby enemies.
Omen of Famine.png Mark of the Soil
  • Yorick flings gravesoil at a target, dealing (+AP) magic damage, marking them for 10 seconds. If a spectral ghoul is guarding Yorick, he will turn one into a ravenous ghoul.
  • All ravenous ghouls become enraged and attack the marked target for up to 10 seconds. Enraged ghouls have bonus attack speed and store a percentage of their damage dealt. Reactivating this ability makes the enraged ghouls return to Yorick, healing him for all of the damage stored.

  • Yorick opens a grave in the earth, summoning 5 ghouls at the target location. While those ghouls are alive, Yorick can re-activate Embrace the Inevitable to move command the army.

  • Yorick flings a clump of dirt forward in a line, dealing (+AD) physical damage to the first enemy hit. Yorick can pick up the clump of dirt to restore (+AD) health. If a ghoul is guarding Yorick, he will fling a ghoul. The ghoul can pass through minions and stores 50% of the damage it deals. Yorick can reactivate this ability to have the ghoul return, healing him for all the damage stored.

  • Yorick opens a grave in the earth, summoning 5 ghouls at the target location. While those ghouls are alive, Yorick can re-activate Embrace the Inevitable to move command the army.

  • Yorick reveals the target area and commands his ghouls to move to that location, dealing +AD physical damage to enemies they pass through en route.

  • Yorick opens a grave in the earth, instantly summoning 5 (+1 per soul) ghouls at the target location. While those ghouls are active, Yorick can re-activate Embrace the Inevitable to move command the army.

  • Yorick's ghouls guard him by default, redirecting 10% of all damage Yorick takes to them. If Yorick commands more than 6 ghouls, they will slowly lose health over time until only 6 remain.
Omen of War.png Shovel Sweep
  • Yorick cleaves all enemies around him, dealing physical damage. If this ability kills a unit, a ghoul will spawn from the corpse.
Omen of Pestilence.png Explosive Gas
  • Corpse gas explodes from the target location, dealing physical damage to all enemies in the explosion and slowing them for 1.5 seconds. His ghouls will prioritize targets afflicted by Explosive Gas.
Omen of Famine.png Hungering Frenzy
  • Yorick and his ghouls gain 50% attack speed, 25% movement speed and 20% life steal for 6 seconds.
Omen of Death.png The Endless March
  • Yorick opens a grave in the earth, instantly summoning 10 ghouls at the target location. While the ghouls are active, Yorick can re-activate The Endless March to command the army.

This version seems inspired by Orianna (a player-submitted idea that intrigued Xelnath), except with three ghouls instead of a ball. He can control them manually (Alt+Right Click) and he also has a "Command Attack" on his E (which is presumably faster, and possibly makes them untargetable for the dash).

  • Yorick controls a swarm of up to 3 ghoul companions. Every 30 seconds Yorick's lantern will revive a dead ghoul or, if all are alive, heal the one with the lowest health. Yorick's bask attacks reduce the cooldown by 2 seconds.
  • Yorick's ghouls guard him by default, redirecting 10% of all damage Yorick takes to them. Yorick can control the swarm with Alt + Right Click, but they will stop guarding him until he commands them to return.
Omen of War.png Shovel Strike
  • Active: Yorick gains bonus movement speed for 2 seconds and his next attack within the next 4.5 seconds will deal bonus (+AD) physical damage and cause him to leap over the target, gaining 2 more seconds of bonus movement speed.
Omen of Pestilence.png Explosive Gas
  • Active: Corpse gas explodes around Yorick, dealing (+AP) physical damage and slowing nearby enemies for 1.5 seconds. His ghouls also cast this effect around them.
Omen of Famine.png Hungering Rush
  • Active: Yorick's ghouls rush towards a target location, dealing (+AD) physical damage to all enemies struck along the way and marking them for 5 seconds. Yorick's basic attacks against marked targets will restore health equal to 100% of the damage dealt.
Omen of Death.png The Endless March
  • Active: Yorick opens a grave in the earth, reviving all of Yorick's ghouls and summoning an army of 20 wretched spirits over 6 seconds. You can cast The Endless March again to command the army to attack a location or unit. The spirits has 100 health, deal X damage and last 20 seconds.

  • Each of Yorick's basic abilities grants him a ghoul companion. Ghouls have 10% of Yorick's attack damage and 12-25% of his health (based on level). Ghouls will respawn after 30 seconds if they are killed. Yorick's basic attacks will reduce the respawn timer by 2 seconds.

  • Active: Yorick gains bonus movement speed for 2 seconds and his next attack within the next 4.5 seconds will deal bonus physical damage. If Inky is alive, the bonus movement speed is increased and Yorick also ignores unit collision.
  • Inky, the Spectral Ghoul - Passive: While Inky is alive, you gain 10% bonus movement speed.
Omen of Pestilence.png Omen of Pestilence
  • Active: Yorick creates an explosion at the target location, dealing magic damage and slowing enemies for 1.5 seconds. If Stinky is alive, he will erupt from the explosion and gain an aura for 5 seconds that deals magic damage per second and slows nearby enemies.
  • Stinky, the Decaying Ghoul - Passive: While Stinky is alive, your attack damage is increased by 25%.

  • Active: Yorick sends a ghostly spirit into the target, dealing physical damage and marking the target for 5 seconds. Yorick's next attack against a marked target will restore health equal to 100% of the damage dealt. If Munch is alive, he will join the ghostly spirit causing Omen of Famine to deal double damage.
  • Munch, the Ravening Ghoul - Passive: While Munch is alive, you gain 15% life steal and spell vamp.

  • Yorick instantly revives all his ghouls. The cooldown of Triple Team is reduced for each ghoul that was alive on-cast.
  • Active - Enemy Cast: Yorick ghouls rush the target, stunning the target for 2 seconds. The ghouls activate their secondary effects: Inky grants Yorick movement speed, Stinky gains his aura and Munch deals physical damage.
  • Active - Ally Cast: Yorick's ghouls protect the target ally, redirecting 50% of all damage taken to themselves and granting the target the ghoul's passive effects for 20 seconds.

  • Active: Yorick creates an explosion at the target location, dealing magic damage and slowing enemies for 1.5 seconds.
  • Crush, the Battle Ghoul - Passive: If Crush is alive when Explosive Harvest is cast, he will perform a cleave attack that slows surrounding enemies.

  • Active: Yorick sends a ghostly spirit into the target, dealing physical damage and marking the target for 5 seconds. Yorick's next attack against a marked target will restore health equal to 100% of the damage dealt.
  • Munch, the Ravening Ghoul - Passive: If Munch is alive when Hungering Mark is cast, he will seek out the target and root them for 1.5 seconds.
Omen of Death.png The Endless March
  • Active: Yorick instantly revives all of his ghouls. Yorick channels for 5 seconds, summoning 100,000 wretched spirits. Wretched spirits will follow his cursor and explode on hitting an enemy, dealing 3 damage. Wretched spirits have 100 health. (Numbers are obviously placeholder.)
