As a young potato, Lärpi grew up among other potatoes of his tribe in the soils near the Howling Marsh. His life at the edge of the quiet marshes was unremarkable and simple most of the time, save for the moments when adventurous or confused humans would walk around, and suddenly vanish with a loud scream. The air would fill up with a magical essence, which was absorbed by the potatoes and other plants alike, and they'd briefly turn into animate objects. On a certain day, a Lich emerged from the marshes to greet another visitor. This time however, the visitor turned out to be a powerful mage... The Lich seemed to have found his equal, until his opponent set a wrong step and was caught by the skeletons emerging from the marsh. As the mage said his last curses, Lärpi came to life.
Magic was flowing through him as he smiled at his potato brethren from above and faced the undead lich that poisoned his surroundings. The lich didn't seem to be pleased with his animation; However, before he could finish off the vegetable, a sudden rain of potatoes emerged from the sky, pushing him back into the marsh. Lärpi proclaimed himself the Potato King and led his kinsmen away from the marsh. Hoping he could represent his people, he travelled to The Institute of War where he now fights using his newly acquired powers. Despite his great might, he still respects his humble past and honors the lich that caused his animation.
