Stalwart Faith
Holy Fervor

Passive: The effect of Kayle's abilities is modified depending on her current Faith level.

Every time a champion dies in a 1200 radius around Kayle, she loses 1 faith if its an ally or gains 1 faith if its an enemy. Faith rapidly decays towards 0 while out of combat.

Below 0 Faith, Kayle is in the Retribution state and at 1 Faith or above Kayle is in the Hope state.

Kayle's flames change in color depending on the state she's in, becoming:

Orange (same as currently) while in Retribution state.

Bright White while in Hope state.

Yellow while in neither state.

Faith decay is 3 seconds/1 faith point while out of combat (10 seconds without dealing or taking damage)

Reasoning: Kayle is a champion that is all about sacrificing the minority to save the majority and I made a passive to represent that. While allies die around Kayle, her abilities become more offense oriented, allowing her to turn a lost teamfight around by supplying the resource that the situation needs the most - burst damage and aoe. On the other hand, while everything goes smoothly, Kayle's abilities will transform to allow her to preserve the advantage her team has, providing more and better supporting effects to prevent her allies from dying.

Each ability is further explained individually but, either way, the old Holy Fervor passive had to go.

All changes to the abilities aim for modernizing them while preserving as much of their theme and effects as possible.

RANGE: 600
COST: 60/70/80/90/100 Mana

Channelled: Kayle channels for up to 2.5 seconds, then releases a blast of holy fire in a line, dealing magic damage to enemies hit. Channeling gradually increases the range of Reckoning, reaching the maximum after 1.5 seconds. Kayle can move normally during the channel.

While in Retribution state the blast is empowered, changes into cone-shape, with enemies hit in the center taking additional damage and becoming blinded.

While in Hope state the blast also cleanses allies it passes through of harmful effects excluding suppression and displacement.

Additional Information:

This ability is basically a lower-range xerath q-style, except it travels as a projectile. In Kayle's default state, while quite underwhelming its still useful.Do note that it requires channeling to attain max range, effectively disallowing Kayle from autoattacking for the duration - I wanted to slightly shift the focus from her E to her other abilities, although AA's remain a core and defining part of her kit and the playstyle remains completely viable. (more in E)

In Retribution state the ability becomes more interesting, changing into cone-shape and applying blind to enemies hit in the center, effectively supplying a strong area of damage spell to Kayle and allowing her and her allies to survive longer by preventing the enemies from hitting their autoattacks.

In Hope state an additional effect of cleanse is added. Do note that the ability also "passes through" Kayle herself, effectively removing most CC or DOT from her (even if she only manages to start casting it right before it hits, as the ability will still be released (unless its a silence). It also requires thinking - do I save that ally or do I hit an enemy with it, which is more beneficial to the team as a whole?

As you can see, the "basic" version is a nerf - longer cooldown, doesnt slow and has to hit, while also dealing lower damage and requiring channeling to maximize its potential.The only advantage it has is in being able to hit multiple opponents but the line is quite narrow (taric-stun like).

In Retribution state the ability changes, becoming offensively better than the old one but still lacking range, the slow and having higher cooldown, which is made up for by its aoe and blind potential and also the fact that a teammate has to die for Kayle to use it

In Hope state the ability gains a cleanse component and can potentially save an ally or Kayle herself.
Divine Blessing
RANGE: 900

Divine Blessing

Active: Kayle blesses the target allied champion or herself, shielding them and granting them bonus movement speed for 2 seconds. After 2 seconds, the target is healed for the remainder of the shield.

While in Retribution state, all damage taken to the shield is reflected to the attacker as magic damage.

While in Hope state, the shield power is doubled.

In Kayle's default state, the ability is basically her old W, except with a duration of 2 seconds instead of 3 (MS boost is increased to make up for it), and it shields first then heals if the shield is not broken, which allows it to bypass grevious wounds and benefit multiplicatively from heal and shield power (i.e getting Windspeaker's blessing will increase the power of the shield by 10% and then of the heal by another 10%, for a total of 21% increase - 1.1*1.1 = 1.21, provided that the shield is not damaged). The duration decrease from 3 to 2 seconds is to synergise well with Kayle's ult duration reduction from 3 second at max rank to 2 seconds.

In Retribution state, the ability makes the enemies hitting the shield share the (post-mitigation) damage they deal, effectively giving more damage equal to the amount shielded.

In Hope state, the ability shields for twice as much, giving the ability much higher impact than normally.
Righteous Fury

Righteous Fury

Active: Kayle ignites her sword for 10 seconds, gaining 525 range on her attacks and applying spell effects. During Righteous Fury, Kayle becomes a ranged champion.

While in Retribution state, Kayle's basic attacks against non-turrets deal magic damage to all enemies near the main target for the duration.

While in Hope state, Kayle's basic attacks against non-turrets heal all allies near the main target for the duration.

And here is Kayle's trademark ability, Righteous Fury. Before, it was the defining ability of her kit, and it still is, although now it's significantly less powerful.I wanted Kayle to become more of a "somewhat tanky Mage-Fighter hybrid", like an angel she is, rather than an AA-based glasscannon with 3s immunity, although the latter playstyle should still remain viable.


OLD : 20/30/40/50/60 base bonus damage (half of which is passive), 30% AP scaling (single target), 30% AP and 40% bonus AD scaling (splash damage).

NEW (at 0 Faith) : NO SPLASH 10/15/20/25/30 base bonus damage (half of previous), 20% AP and 30% AD (total, not bonus) scaling. Do notice that the total AD scaling provides a total of almost 30 bonus damage at level 18, effectively breaking even with the old ability in single target damage (other than scaling from AP and bonus AD being lower by a third).Once again, in base state, Kayle's new Righteous Fury does NOT splash.

in Retribution state, the splash is added as previous, with the same scaling as the new ability's bonus damage, effectively being the old E (although slightly nerfed but not by much, other than requiring an ally to die to be able to use it)

in Hope state, a splash effect is also added, although it heals allies instead of damaging enemies (with same splash radius it will only heal targets in melee range from the target, which may include Kayle, making her a great duelist in Hope state)

Bonus : this ability changes dynamically as Kayle gains and loses Faith stacks through its duration, allowing Kayle to adjust to the current situation (and also raising the skill ceiling without raising the skill floor, as the best champions are easy to learn but hard to master and that is what I'm aiming for with this rework)

COOLDOWN: 180/150/120 seconds

Active: Kayle soars into the skies, becoming untargetable for a short duration while cleansing all movement-impairing effects and gaining a massive movement speed bonus. While flying, Kayle is unable to attack and can activate this ability again on an ally, ending the flight prematurely and bathing them in holy light, granting Damage Immunity for a few seconds.

While in Retribution state, casting Intervention on an ally causes a ring of holy fire to spread from Kayle's target outwards, slowing as it goes, before dissipating, dealing true damage to the enemies it touches.

While in Hope state, casting Intervention on an ally also grants them Kayle's current rank Divine Blessing.

Here is the modernized version of Kayle's old ult, sharing the same name. The new Intervention is an interesting ability that can be used not only to save an ally but also as a gap-closer or disengage for Kayle herself. While the damage immunity duration is reduced to 1/1.5/2 seconds, it provides bonus effects in Retribution and Hope states, respectively an aoe true damage effect or a free Divine Blessing.

Also do note that Kayle cannot cast the damage prevention shield on herself - she is untargetable while flying, for up to 2 seconds.

Overall, the ability is much more flexible than the old Intervention, however as a result it has a much higher impact, which has to be compensated - the cooldown is increased to 180/150/120 seconds, up from 100/90/80 seconds.
