Sion rework, attempt number two

Hey guys!

Champion reworks are recently a quite hot topic. I've already posted a rework idea before (something like a year ago), but it was a complete fail (nearly uberbroken).

Sion is definitely not really liked (and known) among most players. I've spent some time playing this guy, but my experiences are not really completed. Still, i want to try to bring some power here.

To be honest, i compared this concept to other champions and IMO it's not either OP or UP, but your feedback is important here guys. Numbers can be changed.

The most noticable thing is that i just killed AP Sion. Ability power is not completely wasted, but definitely not worth too. Sorry.

Despite the changes in abilities, i'd also propose some changes to statistics (which i can't apply directly since i'm using a ready template of Sion's stats):

  • Base health increased from 403 to 405
  • Health per level reduced from 104 to 90
    • I know it seems to be a hard nerf, but since health stacking is available in its full power since the beggining of match in this version of rework, it would be just too good.
  • Base mana increased from 200 to 210
  • Base attack damage simplified (and reduced) from 55.52 to 55
  • Attack damage per level simplified (and increased) from 3.188 to 3.2

Simplifications do mean that i just simply want to round up the numbers, since such amounts below 0.01 are confusing.



Sion permamently gains 3 health for killing an unit. This amount is doubled for larger units such as large minions, large monsters, champions and buildings.

Ability Details
Cannibalism is a self-buff stacking ability.

Additional Information:

  • Cannibalism's health bonus can be triggered by killing an enemy unit with any of Sion's damage sources, including autoattacks, champion abilities, summoner spells and item actives.

Effect of Enrage.png Enrage moved to passive effect at its full potential since beggining of the game. I want to make it impacting since the beggining of the game, like Nasus Nasus for example can. I know there is no health penalty and toggle mechanism, but free AD is also no more.

Name and icon also switched.

Sion's gaze terrifies a single enemy, dealing magic damage based on target's current health (more current health the target has, more damage is dealt) and stunning it for short duration.

  • Minimum Magic Damage: 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 (+ 50% AP) (+ 25% bonus AD)
  • Maximum magic damage: 100 / 160 / 220 / 280 / 340 (+ 100% AP) (+ 50% bonus AD)
  • Stun duration: 1.2 / 1.3 / 1.4 / 1.5 / 1.6

Cryptic Gaze is a single targeted ability.

Some power shifted around. Able to deal more damage now, but also deals less against low health targets and stun duration is reduced a bit in early game. Slightly lower mana cost and a bit more cast range. 2 seconds higher cooldown at max rank.

Death's Caress
COST: 30 mana
Death's Caress

After 1 second delay, Sion releases a powerful explosion, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies. Death's Caress also grants Sion a shield upon hitting enemy champion or monster for 4 seconds. This effect can occur only once per fixed amount of seconds.

  • Physical damage: 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+ 75% bonus AD) (+ 2.5% of max health)
  • Explosion area: 425
  • Shield health: 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+ 50% bonus AD) (+ 5% of max health)
  • Shield effect cooldown: 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12
Ability Details
Death's Caress is an area of effect damage dealing ability that is also able to generate a self targeted shield.

Additional Information:

  • Death's Caress does not interrupt Sion's actions.

I don't really like current Death's Caress.png Death's Caress. It can be either greatly nuking (AP Sion) or almost useless (AD Sion, enemy team filled with good bursters). Proposed concept makes this ability as some kind of spam spell like Evelynn Evelynn has, while still having theme of delayed explosion and shield.

COST: 35 mana

Passive: Sion gains bonus attack damage per every basic attack stacking up to 5 times. After 5 seconds without attacking, stacks will begin to fall off at speed of one stack per second. Active: Grants bonus movement speed that decays over 5 seconds. First basic attack done while bonus is active will reveal the target for 3 seconds.

  • Bonus Attack Damage per hit: 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 14 (+ 2% bonus AD)
  • Max bonus attack damage: 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 (+ 10% bonus AD)
  • Active movement speed: 24% / 27% / 30% / 33% / 36%
Ability Details
Enrage is a passive self-buff with active self-buff.

Additional Information:

  • Reveal effect does not reveals stealthed units.

No more easily accesible AD. Max amount is higher than current Sion Sion's passive amount and also has no cost. Active makes Sion better in ganking, giving some light for jungling and roaming.

COST: 100 mana
COOLDOWN: 100 / 95 / 90
Feel No Pain

Passive: Grants Sion a small amount of bonus attack speed and lifesteal. Active: Sion sweeps his axe around, dealing true damage to nearby enemies and healing himself for 75% of damage done against champions and 15% of damage done against minions and monsters. After that, he enters a state of empower for 15 seconds, gaining bonus movement speed, 25% tenacity, attack speed and 10% incoming damage reduction, while also being able to move through units.

  • True damage: 120 / 210 / 300 (+ 90/95/100% bonus AD) (+ 4% of max health)
  • Passive bonuses: 4% / 7% / 10%
  • Bonus movement speed: 30 / 45 / 60
  • Bonus attack speed: 40% / 60% / 80%
Ability Details
Feel No Pain is an area of effect damage dealing ability that also triggers a self-targeted buff.

Additional Information:

  • Feel No Pain has no cast time and does not interrupt Sion's previous orders.

One hundred percent lifesteal + AoE massive heal is kinda OP when it comes to duels or sustained fights. This version gives the power of lifesteal in a better form - gives advantage against kiting and bursting while not giving too much power into longer battles.
