Chester, the Chess Grandmaster is a custom champion in League of Legends.

As apparent in his name, Chester is a chess-based champion. I took some good time before piecing this champion together. Originally, he was buffed with lots of armor from his abilities, but I've taken that out in trade of giving him a bit more support-tank feel instead of a true tank. Well, hope you like this 4th concept I've created so far. - TakaHann

Abilities

Caissa's Blessing

As a master of chess and the strategies involved, Chester and all allied champions receives 11 / 18 / 25 armor, while allied non-champions within 1100 range receive 4 / 8 / 12 armor. This is not in effect while Chester is dead. Caissa's Blessing also does not grant assists if an ally buffed by Caissa's Blessing kills an enemy champion.

Passive: Basic Attacks inflicted to non-champion units will increase by a large percentage. Basic attacks to turrets will receive half this effect.

  • Bonus percentage damage to non-champion units: 60% / 70% / 80% / 90% / 100%
  • Bonus percentage damage to turrets: 30% / 35% / 40% / 45% / 50%

Active: After activation, Chester’s next attack within the next 6 seconds will deal additional physical damage. Chester will receive 20% movement speed bonus and will be able to ignore unit collision for a few seconds after activation. The bonus damage is affected by the passive.

  • Bonus Physical Damage: 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+50% bonus AD)
  • Bonus duration: 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4

Passive: Chester receives an absorbant barrier which regenerates by 10% per 1.5 seconds.

  • Barrier Health: 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 / 260 (+30% AP)

For every allied champion nearby, including himself, Chester receives a stack of Advantage. For every enemy Champion nearby, Chester receives a stack of Counter-Attack. Initiative will include hidden enemies, but will not reveal them. Each stack of Advantage grants bonus armor penetration, while each stack of Counter-Attack grants 5% resistance to damage and reduction to crowd control.

  • Bonus Armor Penetration per stack: 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10
  • Bonus Armor Penetration at full stack: 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50

Active: Chester dashes to an allied champion, taunting nearby enemies for 2 seconds. Both Chester and the target receives bonus movement speed for 2 seconds. Chester also receives bonus armor and magic resistance for 4 seconds, while the target receives a barrier for up to 6 seconds.

Active: Chester channels for one second, thereafter bringing upon a checkmate to an enemy champion, dealing physical damage, plus additional magic damage based on how many allied champions are nearby the target, including Chester himself. When an enemy champion dies, the cooldown of this ability is reduced by 5 seconds. If Chester assists, the reduction is doubled, while delivering the kill triples the reduction.

  • Physical Damage: 150 / 225 / 300 (+ 50% AD)

  • Attack Animation
    • Chester uses his sword or shield to attack the opponent.

    • Chester swings his sword at his opponent in an artistic manner.

    • Chester takes out a book and reads for a moment.
    • Chester takes out a chess piece and cleans it with a handkerchief.
    • Chester lightly taps his shield with his sword.
  • Recall Animation
    • Chester holds his sword to the side as he kneels with head down.
  • Death Animation
    • Chester drops his sword and shield, falling to his knee, then to the ground face first.
  • Laugh Animation
    • Chester makes a brief snicker, thereafter laughing to himself for a second.

September 9, 2013: Patch V1.01 and Part-Rework

  • Caissa's Blessing (Innate)
    • Mechanic changed to grant global armor to champions, including Chester himself, along with armor to nearby minions. This is not active while he is dead.
    • Armor to Allied Champions decreased to 11/18/25 from 15/25/35.
    • Armor to non-champion decreased to 4/8/12.
    • Doesn't grant Chester Ability Power anymore.
  • En Passant (Q)
    • Bonus Physical damage increased to 50/75/100/125/150 from 40/60/80/100/120.
  • Initiative (W)
    • New Passive: Now grants a regenerative barrier. Additionally, for each nearby ally, Chester gains a stack of Advantage, which grants armor penetration. Nearby enemies instead grant Counter-Attack stacks, which grants 4% resistance to damage and reduction to crowd control. Initiative will include hidden enemies, but will not reveal them.
    • Old Passive: Chester passively receives two stacks of Initiative. For every allied champion nearby, Chester receives a stack of Initiative. Each stack grants armor penetration and a regenerative barrier.
    • Scaling and number values revised in following of the new mechanic.

    • New mechanic removes the switch-place mechanic, instead allowing Chester to dash to ally and taunt enemies instead.
    • Bonus armor and magic resistance rescaled to 30/40/50/60/70% from 40/45/50/55/60%.

    • Physical damage rescaled into 150/225/300
      • AD scaling reduced to 50% from 100%.

      • AP scaling for magic damage switched to increase the value of damage per nearby ally instead of the overall magic damage.

September 7, 2013: Added

  • Caissa's Blessing (Innate)
    • Chester is blessed by the goddess of chess, allowing him to give protection to his allies and receive strength back for how much he gives.
  • En Passant (Q)
    • Enforcing the rules of chess, minions and other low ranks are like pawns to Chester, allowing him swipe them off their feet easily and attack where they are weakest.
  • Initiative (W)
    • In any situation where he has the numerical advantage, Chester is able to create strategies to pull this advantage into a better advantage for himself. Even when on equal grounds, he is able to empower himself.
  • Castling (E)
    • To protect his allies as if they are worth as much as a king, Chester can switch places and hold the defensive front. If he's in a dire situation, he can call for the help of a nearby ally to switch with him too.
  • Checkmate (R)
    • Chester can call for "Checkmate" on his enemy, which grows in effectiveness for as many allies surround the target enemy.
