Alright, this is still a work in progress... But let me give you an idea of what I'm trying to go for:

I wanted to create an offensively-oriented support, with a passive that supports ambushes within brush, a decent shield and a not-so-accessible heal, and the ability to go AD. I also wanted to go for a unique ultimate (we'll get to that later). Anyways, I got this idea of a "bramble mage," a creature born from thorn bushes. While I don't exactly have his look down, he's definitely yordle-esque in stature with thorns all over him, and he has a medium-sized wilted flower on his head. Also, his weapon of choice is a thorn whip.

So, without further ado, I present... Sprig, The Brambleborn!

Empowered Bark (Innate) Sprig and his allies gain 3% increased attack damage and ability power. This bonus is lost while Sprig is dead.
Q: Thorn Battalion (Active) Sprig launches his thorny vine whip, damaging any enemies in a line in front of him. Any enemy champion hit by the vines bleeds for 3 seconds, taking physical damage per second and revealing their location for the duration.

W: Revitalize (Active) The flower on Sprig’s head glows red and becomes healthy again, increasing his movement speed and mana regeneration, while increasing a target ally’s movement speed or decreasing a target enemy’s movement speed for 6 seconds. If this is activated during Terra Firma, Sprig gains lifesteal as opposed to movement speed.

E: Brier Barrier (Passive) Sprig gains armor and magic resist based on a percentage of his missing health. (Active) Sprig can place a thorny shield on an ally that absorbs damage for 5 seconds and returns a percentage of that damage to the attacker. This ability can target turrets.

Cooldown: 16 seconds

Armor and Magic Resist: 50/100/150

Shield Strength: 80/120/160/200/250 (+ 0.5 per AP)

Active % Damage Returned: 20/25/30/35/40

R: Terra Firma (Ultimate, Active) Sprig roots himself in place in a large area around him, substantially increasing his combat stats, gaining 350 attack range, ignoring crowd control effects, and restoring health every second for 7 seconds, but making him immobile for the duration. Allied champions within the area of effect are also healed every second for 4 seconds. Enemies in the area of effect radius when this ability is cast are snared, while enemies that pass through the area are slowed. Sprig can deactivate this ability at any time after 3 seconds of casting it.

  • The bleed effect for Thorn Battalion is similar to TalonSquare Talon's Noxian Diplomacy Noxian Diplomacy.
  • While Terra Firma may seem like a lot, with a CC, allied and self heal, and increased combat stats and attack range for Sprig, think about it: Sprig's mobility is sacrificed entirely for at least 3 seconds after casting it. This ability also costs a lot of mana, and has a rather high cooldown. It also does not directly do damage, and ultimately requires good placement for the CC so that enemies won't simply run away from Sprig. Also note that Spring can't use Ghost Ghost, Flash Flash, or Teleport Teleport while Terra Firma is activated.
