Re: Content DirectorEdit

Hello! First of all I would like to thank the acknowldgement and the suggestions. I will certainly pursue the position, I am diligent in what I do, even if as it stands it is a hobby. I just don't know where to begin. I gave AntiZig's profile a quick scan and he seems to have some projects going. I will need to take more than just a minute to go check out his contributions though. I had, however, just recently started working on one of Lesanthosxia's projects by begining to edit and reformat the information on the ability details pages for the champions. If I would suit this CD position, I'd be glad to work toward it and fill it if I am granted the title and positioin, I just don't want to have started the one project and leave it not even 1/3 done. If you have any pointers on where I should begin that would be great. :P Sydeyc 04:37, February 29, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Edit

Thank you for your concerns. I also thank you for removing such a foul comment from the wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xareidan (talkcontribs)

Re: Template:Champions Edit

That template would be horrendously huge. It already takes up enough space as it is with only the small icons. —ProtonZero[talk] 03:19, March 3, 2012 (UTC)

I purposefully de-bolded the non-released champion names in order to keep a lower profile for them, and also so they would be more readily discerned from the bold "Canceled" and "Concept Art" labels. If you'd like to embolden them, change the {{!}} parts at the beginning of each line to !. —ProtonZero[talk] 06:44, March 7, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Chat Logger Edit

I really don't know what could be the problem then. I've made a short guide for the chatbot at w:User:Joeytje50/Chat logger, so could you check if you did exactly that yourself too? Else, I don't know what could be the problem and you might want to ask someone else with a windows computer to run the bot. I have checked everything that could be the problem already, and I haven't found anything that might break it. Joeytje50 talk 18:30, March 4, 2012 (UTC)

Maybe you could put an enter between the two imports. Also, maybe the problem is that your computer goes into standby automatically. I am sure the import is not the problem, but please do read that guide carefully and check if everything is okay for you. Joeytje50 talk 18:36, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
I don't think that would have caused it to break, but it might be the cause. Are you sure your computer doesn't go into stand-by and you keep receiving the messages with your bot? Joeytje50 talk 20:32, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
Then the "wait" or "kill page" thing is the problem. Your computer likely goes into standby mode after you haven't touched it for too long, and then it stops running scripts etc. Of course, it won't submit the log then. Please make sure your computer doesn't go into standby mode if you want it to log the chat all the time. Joeytje50 talk 20:44, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
I don't know how to fix it, as you use a mac and I don't know anything about macs. Maybe you could try running the bot on a windows computer, if you can. Joeytje50 talk 21:04, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
I don't know how it works on macs. On windows computers, the screen goes black, yeah Joeytje50 talk 21:09, March 4, 2012 (UTC)

Wikitable class Edit

I haven't tried myself because I'm not sysop of any wiki. This is the closest I can find from googling "how to customize wikitable class" [1]. -- Inpursuit (talk) 06:49, March 5, 2012 (UTC)

I think adding the following codes into the MediaWiki:Wikia.css should do the trick:

table.wikitable { border:1px solid #888888; } table.wikitable th, table.wikitable td { border:1px solid #888888;}

You may modify the color code to suit LoL's style. Anyway that's how it works. -- Inpursuit (talk) 12:58, March 5, 2012 (UTC)

It works. You can see the result in Surge in which the "table of ability power gain" applies the wikitable class. Thx -- Inpursuit (talk) 01:25, March 6, 2012 (UTC)
The user from Wikipedia just suggested changing the code like so to avoid unwanted behavior which might affect more table layout other than wikitable:

table.wikitable > tr > th, table.wikitable > tr > td, table.wikitable > * > tr > th, table.wikitable > * > tr > td { border:1px solid #888888;} -- Inpursuit (talk) 01:28, March 6, 2012 (UTC)

Ban on user FeartheboobiesEdit

Tech, the word boob is not innapropriate. i don't understand why you banned him for that reason. I suggest removing his ban. Here is a List of innapropriate words that justify such a ban. Rapacious 11:41, March 5, 2012 (UTC)

From what i understand, you banned his username because it had the word "boobies" in it, and solely that.

Edit: To clarify, i knew it was the reason because you wrote the reason for banning. Also, I am aware that that some people find even boobs offensive, but seeing as it's not part of any standard word filters, i don't see why that user shoud take this treatment. Rapacious 01:19, March 6, 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism going unpunished Edit

Something I noticed recently, that there is a same vandal with various IP adressess. He is messing the Skins&Trivia pages of various champions, with same edits=reducing the slideshows & deleting them. Is there something that we can do?

Btw, is the project over?

Is this person using multiple IP's with the same base (1.1.1.something) or are they all different (proxies, IP addresses all over the place)? We can't stop proxies, unfortunately. For the first, you could request a range ban from...wikia staff/vstf, but I'm not sure that that is appropriate in the situation. TehAnonymous Avatar TehAnonymous <3 14:44, March 10, 2012 (UTC)

Hello, Anon Wiki Editor here. Edit

Just curious about this redirect in the search engine:

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Lulu%2C_the_Fae_Sorceress

The previous title had "Lulu, the Fae Sorceress" with a comma in the middle and apparently the redirect to the actual page "Lulu the Fae Sorceress" without the comma in the middle has been suppressed. Isn't that counterintuitive to the purpose of a redirect? Just wanted to bring it to your attention. Sincerely AnonWikiEditor 06:38, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

Re: New Champion Ability Table Edit

I would personally love to implement it. However, it's pretty radical, and would take a while to convert every champion to using it, and I'm almost certain that some moderator or administrator will be upset that I'm going around massively changing core aspects of the wiki's primary pages.

I'm basically just lazy and don't feel like asking the administrators and stuff if I'm allowed to do it. Other than that it's totally ready to use, doesn't have any bugs or anything. —ProtonZero[talk] 13:49, April 2, 2012 (UTC)

Hotfix PageEdit

Hey there Tech! I have a small question for you. If you remember, a while back, we briefly discussed me taking up of of AntiZig's projects and potentially seek out the position of CD for patch history. Now, I have gone through his list of projects and have completed some and undertaken some revision projects of my own. There are other projects on his list that I truly have no idea what they were about (namely those whose link pages have been deleted).

The question I have for you is about the Hotfix page. The page is very condensed and for good reason it isn't expanded to contain all the info about each hotfix. It is however labeled under the "Needs Patch History" category. I'm wondering whether or not I should expand the page, either by listing the changes that have been made under each, or by adding a scroll box with the full notes for each hotfix. Again, any input is welcome. Thanks. --Sydeyc 06:13, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

Alright then, I'll start gathering up some stuff and see what I can do to make the page more informative. I'm working on compiling all these patch notes and hotfixes in one document to make this easier :P. On another note, I generally try to get onto at least the wiki's chatroom. I've just been really busy with projects for school. I'm around the end of my semester, doing a 2 year program in 1 year. :P Real condensed and this semester has been hell. Almost done though. hahah. --Sydeyc 06:42, April 3, 2012 (UTC)
Hi hi, me again. I'm having a bit of an issue with the "See Also" section on the hotfix page. I've converted the list into a table, appears cleaner and can contain links to both the relevant patch notes AND to the hotfix release notes. My problem is that for some reason, the "See Also" section header is hidden if it's at level 2. But it appears when I set it to level 3. I will eventually include any relevant information from the link directly into the main body of the article, but for now it seems a little out of place. Any ideas? --Sydeyc 09:30, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

Re: HotfixEdit

In regards to the hotfix that's in the template, I'd love to incorporate it into its respective patch, as we do with all other hotfixes. I was just a little off about it as I couldn't find the release notes for that "mini patch" and because it is such a large hotfix (it would take up a lot of room on the patch's page). V1.0.0.118, V1.0.0.118b, V1.0.0.94 and V1.0.0.94(b) are each full individual patches and should remain in the table separately. The april fools 2011 notes could maybe go in a misc/other category. Or it could be excluded from the table alltogether and referenced to withing the V1.0.0.114 page.

I was thinking though about separating the patches in a similar way to what AntiZig was aiming for with this. Alpha and Beta are already separated by stage, but Season 1 and 2 and their respective pre-seasons are all bunched up into one. --Sydeyc 18:25, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

Scratch that last part, I just finished setting up the new template, where the seasons and preseasons are separated and it's just too much: too many separations, too much empty space, makes it look bad. How would I go about using a sandbox for testing out templates? I'd post the finished table there, get others' opinions. While it's not to my tastes it could suit a greater majority. --Sydeyc 19:12, April 3, 2012 (UTC)
I set the template in my sandbox, as I said, it's too much. I'll add a second version where preseasons are mixed into their respective season. Maybe it'll be better. Lemme know your thoughts on it. --Sydeyc 01:56, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

Patch CleanupEdit

I've edited Alpha Week 2 in order to try and clean up (it is flagged for it). I tried a similar setup to what more recent patch pages have. I'd like your opinion on it. If the general consensus is that it isn't good enough, I'll think of something else. Thanks :D --Sydeyc 05:32, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Lol, by the time we get to season 5 the table will have enough content to not seem empty if we keep all those separations, like the items template but less cluttered. I'll get right on planning a S5 template. XD --Sydeyc 05:40, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Red links to $2, and literal $3. Edit

There are 332 archived red links to $2 caused by MediaWiki:Welcome-message-anon and MediaWiki:Welcome-message-user. Also, $3 is not being parsed on pages, but I'm not certain if they are still being unparsed. --BryghtShadow 01:38, April 15, 2012 (UTC)

{{C-top}} Edit

That's rather unfortunate. I changed it with the intention of making the links look more like actual "tabs," and straying from the "white boxes everywhere" theme (as part of attempting to reduce the theme clashing with the new ability templates). This was also why I changed {{c-top}}/{{c-bot}} to no longer have the big white box around all the inside content, and why I removed the left and right borders on {{infobox champion}}. —ProtonZero[talk] 04:17, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

IdeaEdit

Hey Tech just got an idea what about adding a secction on the champion's strategy page: first the "Champs to play with" and "Champions that counters you" Kait-zero

Right. Let's consider all 95 96 possible pairings for each all 97 champs, for both pairing and countering. That's 2 * 95 * 95 2 * 96 * 97. That's roughly... 1805018624 possible pairings. This is higher level strategy, and most players that have a better understanding of the game and all the champions know some good pairings/counterpicks. For less experienced players, they'll have no idea what they're doing, and think that simply outpicking someone outweighs being outplayed. I'm just thinking perhaps we should rename it, as there is always the possibility that next patch will be the actual 141. Let me know what you think. If the decision is made to rename the patch just let me know so that I can change all links to it accordingly. --Sydeyc 18:45, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

I feel ya for the being swamped. My courseload is pretty light but a lot creeps in at the same time. Stay the course, my friend. Also, in this case with V141, is there a template to flag a page for rename like the "delete" one. Do I have to clear it with other mods/admins too? --Sydeyc 04:08, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

WiggleEdit

I don't see myself being that rude to anybody - I've been a harmless little Yordle for months. At most I think I call somebody a moron and that's it, people just like to find something or somebody to complain about and I'm a prime subject. While yes, I can calm it with the Super Teemo hatred and crap, that I can do, but people will always complain about me, even though I'm not really doing anything wrong. x.x --Beautiful Moon TeemoSquareTalk TeemoSquare  09:30, 6/11/2012

Acting rude = no punishment?Edit

Hello Tech, you may not know me, but I know you. I always see you as a guy with responbility, so I wanna ask something: How come BM never get punished? He/She acts rude, his/her respond always leads to argument and he/she always acts like a jerk. How come vandalism and profanity get punished but intentionally attack other member does NOT get punished? I've seen his/her talk page and he/she seems to be adore by Teh and Neon, is that the reason why he/she never get punished?

Heck, Neon even banned me not so long ago for saying one curse word in Teemo Page, but constantly abusing other member in that page get no punishment? What the hell?

174.56.148.124Edit

Does this work for Proof?

Passive (both modes): Jayce gains 40 bonus MS and ignores unit collision for 1.25 seconds after each transformation.

Hammer mode (melee)

  • Q (Thunderstrike): Does magic damage based on X% of target's max hp and knocks away the target.
  • W (Thunderleap): Jumps to target area, dealing physical damage and applying a slow to all surrounding enemies.
  • E (Mordin cannon): Transforms into cannon form, gaining increased range and new abilities.

Cannon mode (ranged)

  • Q (Gate of Speed): Jayce summons a gate boosting the MS of all friendly champions passing through the gate. If Jayce's ranged autoattacks pass through this gate, the projectiles gain increased damage/range/speed.
  • W (Energy Charge): Jayce overcharges, gaining attack speed for a few attacks.
  • E (Mordin Hammer): Transforms into hammer form, gaining passive armor and magic resist and new abilities.

Both

  • R (Lightning Field): Passive mana gain on autoattack, active point blank AoE damage over time.

MediaWiki:Common.js displayTimer() missing closing brace and attribution. Please fix ASAP Edit

I just realised why Chrome AND Firefox were complaining about

Uncaught Error: JavaScript parse error: Parse error: Unexpected token; token } expected in file 'MediaWiki:Common.js' on line 232

The fisplayTimer() function needs to be closed, posthaste. The current code:

Finally, the above function needs attribution/reference to where the displayTimer() is from. Assuming it's from w:User_blog:Monchoman45/Improving_your_interface_with_CSS/JS#Add_a_clock_to_the_header, you should attribute it to Monchoman45 with something like this:

// ============================================================
// displayTimer
// ============================================================

//Add a clock to the WikiHeader
//Using Monchoman45's code from:
//http://community.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Monchoman45/Improving_your_interface_with_CSS/JS#Add_a_clock_to_the_header

Thank you. ----BryghtShadow 17:51, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

Gallery slideshow in SkinTrivia is still buggy (covered by extra black blank screen). Can you revert the changes or test the new code under different class? -- Inpursuit (talk) 23:34, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
So you mean it's Neon's codes that caused the problem on gallery slideshow? -- Inpursuit (talk) 00:00, July 13, 2012 (UTC)
I don't get it. Why couldn't you just revert the commons.js to the "bugfree" version with few clicks of the mouse? It is obviously broken and you shouldn't be waiting for someone else to solve it. -- Inpursuit (talk) 01:09, July 13, 2012 (UTC)
Inpursuit, I feel bad trying to get javascript errors fixed ASAP. Clarifying, if you're going to blame Neon for these edits (http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/index.php?title=MediaWiki%3ACommon.js&diff=881923&oldid=842045), please blame me. For Tech's addition with the wsl code but not the removal of custom buttons in source code, that was my request: MediaWiki_talk:Common.js#Fix_for_wsl_is_undefined.2C_which_will_fix_timer, blame me for trying to get weed out JavaScript errors. To emphasize, the timer is partially working, I missed out on ensuring the timer actually ticked: MediaWiki_talk:Common.js#Timer_wasn.27t_ticking. "It is obviously broken and you shouldn't be waiting for someone else to solve it." That's how I feel, which is why I'm trying to get it fixed...
Seeing Neon's removal of wsl (http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/index.php?title=MediaWiki%3ACommon.js&diff=883707&oldid=882056) I've come to another conclusion. Ditch the code that relies on wsl (WikiaScriptLoader):
/***********************************************************/
/* Sliders using jquery by User:Tierrie in Dragon Age Wiki */
/***********************************************************/
//wsl.loadScript("http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8/jquery-ui.min.js");
wsl.loadScript("http://dragonage.wikia.com/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Jquery-ui.min.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript");

$(document).ready(function() {
  var $tabs = $("#portal_slider").tabs({ fx: {opacity:'toggle', duration:100} } );
  $("[class^=portal_sliderlink]").click(function() { // bind click event to link
    $tabs.tabs('select', this.className.replace("portal_sliderlink_", ""));
    return false;
  });
  $('#portal_next').click(function() {
    $tabs.tabs('select', ($tabs.tabs('option', 'selected') == ($tabs.tabs('length'))-1) ? 0 : $tabs.tabs('option', 'selected') + 1 ); // switch to next tab
    return false;
  });
  $('#portal_prev').click(function() { // bind click event to link
    $tabs.tabs('select', ($tabs.tabs('option', 'selected') == 0) ? ($tabs.tabs('length')-1) : $tabs.tabs('option', 'selected') - 1 ); // switch to previous tab
    return false;
  });
});
Common.js is for ALL skins. It's either include the wsl fix I've outlined in Common.js talk page, or leave it out and remove ALL code that relies on WSL being there. Since I assume those that aren't seeing the WSL error are using Oasis, because WSL is included in Oasis. --BryghtShadow 05:21, July 13, 2012 (UTC) Edit: Fixed indentation --BryghtShadow 05:22, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Thunder Lord Volibear Skin

Hello Technology Wizard,

I'm new to League of Legends Wiki so I'm not familiar with all the quirks of editing pages and imputing codes for champions and skins and all that. But I have picked up some stuff pretty fast since I joined a few days ago, like how to use templates and how to input champion squares and 120px skins on my page by looking at other people's pages. I have a quick question though since i cannot figure out how to fix it. On my page i have input a template which is a skins checklist. I edited it to reflect the skins I own however the art for Thunder Lord Volibear skin is missing and shows 100px in its box. It appears I cannot input the art myself and I need someone working on this wiki to fix it for me. If by any chance you can fix this minor problem on my page I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance and I hope to have a great experience on this wiki! Thanks and have a good one.

Hi, The user Kristeron moved the Ahri page from Ahri the 9 tails fox to Ahri the nine-tailed fox. As you were the one who originally did the opposite, I thought I'd contact you, as there seem to have been some problems with the move and I'm not sure if and how I can fix them. For example, comments are not copied to the new page, redirection from 'Ahri' (like in the table below the champions) do currently not work, and the Ability Details page is missing (though still available from http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Ahri_the_9_Tails_Fox/Ability_Details.

Sorry to botherEdit

Hello Technology Wizard, I would like to start by thank you for your time.

I'm having difficulties trying to edit the Available skins list and I was wondering if you could help. I noticed a little typo in Arctic Ops Kennen, since the "Kennen" part is missing.

I also wanted to let you know that Wildfire Zyra hasn't been added to the New Skins list yet.

Last question, where should I report acts of vandalism?

Once again thank you for your time and I wish you a nice day (or night :p)

Classic Kayle SkinEditEdit

Hello Technology Wizard,

I had a quick question. On the template of skins I own that I have on my profile, Kayle's classic skin is shown as the very first one she had. I was wondering if it is at all possible to have it changed to the classic skin Kayle has now? This is the one I'm talking about:

images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110726184211/leagueoflegends/images/thumb/7/7f/Kayle_OriginalSkin.jpg/1000px-Kayle_OriginalSkin.jpg)

That's all. Thanks again for all your help and I will look foward to hearing back from you. Have a good one!

Hey Technology Wizard,

Re: Categories Edit

Yeah, sorry about the red links. I realized a bit late that they were showing up as red and I pretty much facepalmed. The category does indeed exist now, though. SourPower (talk) 23:51, August 27, 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I didn't realize you were reverting them since I didn't see anything wrong with adding a couple of categories. They are admittedly trivial but not anything disruptive. The blocks were pretty unnecessary - I'm not an idiot, I can notice the "You have new messages" box on my screen. I don't feel the need to make a forum about it if this is the reaction I can expect from trying to 'be bold' as Wiki's are always encouraging. In sum, the blocking was taking it a bit far and was annoying since I literally had to sit around and wait to reply to you both times. SourPower (talk) 00:07, August 28, 2012 (UTC)
Well then if you think they're not necessary then you must be right. See ya. SourPower (talk) 00:24, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

Here is the source

Shaco

So please stop making changes —Preceding unsigned comment added by SLRMercedes (talkcontribs)

I had read the history of the Shaco page, and it said you frequently change Shaco's ability details. That was what I was talking about. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SLRMercedes (talkcontribs)

stuff Edit

Hello, with voter apathy on forums at pretty much an all-time high, I was thinking of getting Wikia to enable the new forums with just the discussion that has happened so far. After asking around a lot, people are generally in favour.

The only issue is that (for now), we'd need to enable message walls as well. That requirement will be removed in a month, so we can remove them again then. I don't like the message wall myself, but trying it for a month hardly hurts imo. Please let me know what you think. ajr 14:07, September 20, 2012 (UTC)
