TriviaEdit

This item resulted from the separation of the offensive and defensive abilities of the removed item Zhonya's Ring. This is the defensive item; Rabadon's Deathcap is the offensive item.
The "Hourglass" in the name is a reference to the fact that by using its active ability, you are granted a few more seconds to live. Within those few seconds, your cooldowns will continue to drop and your team may come to help you.
Champions like Evelynn and Twitch can benefit from these few seconds to "fade to stealth" by stealthing then activating Zhonya's Hourglass. After emerging from the stasis, they will be fully stealthed.
Activating the active will cancel channeled abilities; however, non-channeled area abilities such as Fiddlesticks' or Kennen's ultimates will continue, making Zhonya's Hourglass particularly powerful when used in the middle of an enemy team, allowing them to continue doing damage while being invulnerable to counterattack.

Does spell vamp works during the active ? Supposing you cast a delayed damage or DOT spell, would you regain health from it while in statue ?

in lane phase it doesnt help against ganks but in team fights its basically a trollpool because it doesnt matter that you cant escape, the active absorbed a lot of damage, the team fight has been won and thats all that matters.

Just finished a match of Zilean with this and Guardian Angel. Dead, revived, dead, revived, hourglass, twitch kills their nexus.
Feels good.

His ult doesn't stop, the birds will return to him at the end of the duration of the active and heal him up. As for pantheon, not sure but my guess is it would be stopped...

Heartseeker Strike will instantly stop. If you use Hourglass while he is channeling his jump, it will cancel the channel of his Grand Skyfall. After that i don't know for sure, but i think pantheon cannot use it till he has landed. (He can't use some summoners as well)

- Monsoon is a channeled spell.
- If at any point you would be unable to cast spells, any channeled ability is stopped, as a channel is basically continuous casting.
- Zhonya's renders you unable to cast spells for the duration of the active.

If you have two gunblades and activate one, they both go on cooldown. That's why its unique. To prevent anyone from just permaslowing.

it would not be useless to do if you were Karthus, turn on E, wade into enemy team, and keep activating multiple zhonya's so they can't kill you while you kill them. however, it would not work since what that other guy said is true

I would guess the best use of the hourglass active is on Anivia when you're in egg form and being attacked. Although I'm not sure if you can use it at that time.

I have only ever thought of using zhonya's active on Anivia egg and Nunu during his ult, but you can't do either, making the active seem completely useless.

PROTIP: If you set your destination as next to the enemy nexus, then activate Zhonya's right before it's destroyed, you can see your character show up next to the nexus while everyone else is just sitting there. Epic lolz ensue.

Yes, because it's not channeled. Enemies can move out of your AoE though, and you won't be able to pursue.
